I’m excited to lead this highly-ranked college of pharmacy and advance our mission to educate the next generation of leading healthcare professionals and scientists," said Kolesar.

Dean Kolesar began her position on July 15.

Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) University of Iowa Admissions

PharmD students Deeya Karkera and Kristi Lee are on an APPE rotation at Kitasato University School of Pharmacy in Japan. The experience is a mixture of visits and practice observation in patient care clinics, hospitals and community pharmacies, along with classroom sessions on better understanding the Japanese health care system and pharmacy education in Japan.

They were recognized and received their Pharmacy Educator Preparation Program for Residents and Fellow (PEPPR) certificates at a recent celebration. 🎉 Stevie Veach, clinical associate professor and the College’s PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program director, presented.

The quartet was joined by other University of Iowa and area pharmacy residents completing their PEPPR and PGY1 or PGY2 programs.

Assistant Professor Tze Ning Hiew recently presented at the Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Seminar 2024 in Nanjing, China, delivering “Co-precipitation: A Promising Strategy to Prepare High Drug Load Amorphous Solid Dispersions.”

We're pleased to host the University of Iowa SHPEP Summer Health Professions Education Program students at the College of Pharmacy for hands-on activities! They compounded medicine, made lip balm and bug soother, and filled capsules. The six-week summer program exposes underrepresented students to various health professions.

Health Services Research graduate student Wesam Ismail has been awarded a 2024 Predoctoral Fellowship in Value Assessment and Health Outcomes Research from the PhRMA Foundation for his dissertation project, "Risk of Infections with Induction Therapy Among Children with Kidney Transplant Using Real-World Data." Great work!

Additionally, she is a 2018 Distinguished Alumni recipient. We are so proud of her accomplishments. Congratulations!

Clinical Associate Professor Stevie Veach recently spent time teaching at Japan’s Keio University as part of our Faculty Exchange Program. 🏫 She shared about health care and pharmacy practice in the United States and learned the same about Japan and Thailand from students of the two countries. 💉

Four of the students from Keio will be visiting Iowa in the fall to complete a four-week clinical rotation. 🎉
