Apprentice Opportunities, Seeking applicants for 3 apprenticeship opportunities with Northern California attorneys under the Law Office Study Program
Greetings,
I am writing to inform you of the following opportunities for apprenticeship under the Law Office Study Program (LOSP):
1. Civil Rights and Class Action Litigation Apprenticeship under the LOSP in San Jose, CA
A legal team is seeking 4 positions for apprentices under the Law Office Study Program (LOSP) in the San Jose, CA area. There are 2 positions for current LOSP apprentices who have submitted 3 or more semi-annual reports (the equivalent of 2L or 3L status) to work on a legal team under California Bar’s Practical Training of Law Students (PTLS) Program. There are 2 positions available for new apprentices for mentorship under the LOSP. See the attached document for further details of both opportunities. For those interested, send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to Paul Stanley Holdorf, Esq. at plan [at] nlg.org.
2. Immigration Law under the LOSP in Oakland, CA
An immigration attorney in Oakland, CA who has a history of working with the National Lawyers Guild has expressed an interest in mentoring apprentices in her law office. There is at least one position available, but there are numerous attorneys in this collaborative law office who are currently being asked to accept apprentices under the LOSP. At a minimum the apprentice will be asked to collaborate on a project in the office in addition to their studies. For those interested, send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to me, Steven DeCaprio at mcli1965 [at] gmail.com.
3. Civil Rights and Criminal Defense under the LOSP in Sebastopol, CA
A criminal and civil rights attorney has signed up with the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter as a prospective mentor under the LOSP. We are awaiting further details regarding availability and the scope of the work. For those interested, send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to me, Steven DeCaprio at mcli1965 [at] gmail.com.
Remote study is unavailable for any LOSP opportunities. Do not apply if you are unable to make a significant time commitment in the locations listed above.
Feel free to distribute this information to your lists of prospective apprentices under the LOSP. Applicants should have a commitment to social justice, and poor people and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
Sincerely,
Steven DeCaprio
Interim Executive Director

Association of Legal Apprentices
We’ve heard – and experienced – the need for more support for active and aspiring legal apprentices.
So a handful of current and recently graduated apprentices are creating the Association of Legal Apprentices, an organization to advance access to the law through education, advocacy, and community-building for legal apprentices and alumni.
