I have a love of planning and this is a way for me to share my passion with other educators. I have been an educator for over 17 years. Curriculum development is my passion and I think we are constantly refining our craft by making valuable lessons for students. I am a reflective person and firmly believe that we are always learning & we should value those "Learned Lessons".

A few facts about FOSSILS!

Window to the Past: Fossils provide scientists with a snapshot of the past, offering clues about what the world looked like millions or even billions of years ago. They help us understand the evolutionary history of life on Earth.

Types of Fossils: There are several types of fossils, including body fossils (actual parts of the organism, such as bones or leaves), trace fossils (evidence of an organism's activities, like footprints or burrows), and microfossils (tiny fossils often requiring a microscope to see, like pollen grains).

Tornadoes are powerful and destructive natural phenomena characterized by rapidly rotating columns of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. They are known for their intense winds, which can exceed 300 miles per hour in the most extreme cases, making them one of the most violent and unpredictable weather events.

Key Facts about Tornadoes:
Formation: Tornadoes typically form in severe thunderstorms, especially those known as supercells. They develop from a combination of warm, moist air at the surface and cooler, dry air aloft, creating the instability necessary for tornado formation.

Structure: A tornado usually consists of a visible funnel, made of condensed water droplets, dust, and debris, extending from the base of a cloud (often a cumulonimbus) to the ground.

The world's oldest known customer service complaint dates back to ancient Mesopotamia: In ancient Babylon, around 1750 BCE, a customer named Nanni wrote a complaint on a clay tablet to a merchant named Ea-Nasir. Nanni was unhappy with the quality of copper ore he received and expressed his frustration in writing, demanding a refund or better quality ore.

The Earth's core is the innermost part of our planet, located beneath the mantle and crust.
--It is primarily composed of iron and nickel, with smaller amounts of other elements like sulfur and oxygen.
--The outer core is in a liquid state, while the inner core is solid due to the immense pressure at the center of the Earth.
--The temperature of the outer core is around 4,000 to 5,000 degrees Celsius, while the inner core can reach temperatures of up to 6,000 degrees Celsius.
--The Earth's magnetic field is generated by the movement of molten iron in the outer core, which creates electric currents that produce the magnetic field.
--The radius of the inner core is around 1,220 kilometers, while the radius of the outer core is about 3,400 kilometers.
--The mass of the Earth's core is estimated to be about one-third of the planet's total mass.
--Scientists study the Earth's core using seismic waves, which are waves of energy that travel through the Earth and can reveal information about the Earth's interior.

Matter can exist in a state beyond the commonly known solid, liquid, gas, and plasma: it's called a "quark-gluon plasma." This state is believed to have existed just after the Big Bang, where the universe was so hot and dense that protons and neutrons couldn't form, and matter existed as a soup of its most fundamental components, quarks, and gluons. This exotic state of matter is recreated for fractions of a second in particle accelerators like the Large Hadron Collider, providing insights into the early universe's conditions.
