A Showcase of Unity during the Opening Ceremony of CSC Class 791-23

CAMP DEL PILAR, Baguio City – The Candidate Soldier Course Class 791-2023, comprising fifty (50) Army Privates, was officially opened at the Philippine Military Academy on November 28, 2023. The class consists of forty-two (42) males and eight (8) females. The training is led by the Basic Military Training Team from the School for Candidate Soldier, Training and Doctrine Command of the Philippine Army. Over the next sixteen (16) weeks, these trainees will undergo their training regimen with the collective goal of successfully completing the course. The crucial factors for their success lie in maintaining consistent unity and adhering to the principles of followership.

The opening ceremony unfolded at the Headquarters Support Group, featuring LTGEN ROWEN S TOLENTINO PA, Superintendent of PMA, as the keynote Speaker. In his address, Ltgen Tolentino underscored the significance of unity, dedication to service, and resilience for the candidate soldiers. He urged them to support each other throughout the training process and emphasized the integral role of followership in the military. Stressing the adage, "A good leader is a good follower," he highlighted its relevance to military ethos.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the military offers competitive compensation and abundant opportunities for career advancement and educational growth, making it a lucrative and promising profession.

MAJ JOHN ALVIN RICO PA, as the Officer-in-Charge from PMA, presented the candidate soldiers to Cpt ELMA GRACE R ABULENCIA PA, the Course Director of the CSC Class 791-2023. CPT ABULENCIA
also gave her response and she officially declared the opening of the course. The Opening Ceremony was immediately followed by the Reception Rites of the Candidate Soldiers. The Reception Rites has three stations to which the Candidate Soldiers have undergone. The Reception Rites tested the physical strength of the candidate soldiers as they performed various exercises to showcase their strength and unity, especially during the Road Run.

The commencement of CSC Class 791-23 not only marks their initiation into military life but also signifies the gateway to broader prospects for their professional and personal growth. The training is not only a rigorous experience but also an opportunity for self-discovery and personal insight. Additionally, it serves as a crucial phase for the trainees to familiarize themselves with each other and cultivate teamwork. Basic Military Training stands as a pivotal juncture in the military journey, serving as a decisive factor that will impart invaluable lessons to the candidate soldiers from the training team.

"Camaraderie and Sportsmanship take center stage in CSC Classes 783, 784, 785 and 786 Sports Fest"

CAMP O’DONNELL, Capas, Tarlac – Loud cheers and company battle cries filled the air as the 562 graduating members of Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) Classes 783, 784, 785 and 786 - 2023 showcased their camaraderie and sportsmanship in the two-day Sports Fest held at the School for Candidate Soldier, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army from November 4 to November 5, 2023.

Anchored on the theme “Sports for Discipline, Strengthening Camaraderie, Teamwork, and Excellence,” the activity featured an array of sports that tested the candidate soldiers’ strength and teamwork.

The first day featured basketball, volleyball, and sepak takraw. The second day meanwhile featured the championship games and the traditional boodle fight as part of the culmination of the sports festival. Throughout the sports activities, the candidate soldiers displayed not only their physical capabilities but also the unity and camaraderie that are hallmarks of military life.

The sports festival is part of the non-academic activities of the Basic Military Training. The said activity is also geared at producing physically fit soldiers and also to complementing their development through sports and wellness programs.

Lt. Col. Josephus Emar M. Rempillo, the School Assistant Commandant who presided over the opening ceremony, talked about the significance of the sports festival in the development of future soldiers. "This event is not just about physical prowess, it is about building character, teamwork, and the mental strength needed to overcome challenges in the field,” he told the graduating candidate soldiers in his remarks.

SCS welcomes a new batch of Candidate Soldiers

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – A total of 209 young soldier aspirants who are part of the Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) Class 790-2023 commenced their four-month Basic Military Training (BMT) during the opening ceremony and reception rites at the Makabulos Grandstand, Training and Doctrine Command, PA, Capas, Tarlac on October 3, 2023.
The new candidate soldiers who took their oath during the opening ceremony came from the 1st to 10th Infantry Divisions; Special Forces Regiment (Airborne); Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group; Finance Center, Philippine Army; Installation Management Command; Army Support Command; Army Signal Regiment; Civil-Military Operations Regiment’ Training and Doctrine Command; Army Personnel Management Center; and 51st Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Alvin V. Flores, the Deputy Commander of TRADOC, PA serves as the Keynote Speaker. In his message, “As you stand here today, take a moment to reflect on the gravity of this commitment, and let it fuel your determination to excel. Your training will be demanding, but it will also be the crucible that shapes you into the protectors of our nation, the defenders of our values, and the guardians of our freedom. Embrace this journey, rise to the challenges, and emerge stronger and more prepared than ever before.
BGEN FLORES ended with this quote, “Training is not made for punishment but for you to become competent and capable soldiers. You are defenders of our country.”

These Candidate Soldiers composed of 64 females and 145 males will undergo the Candidate Soldier Course of the Philippine Army for 16 weeks or 864 hours with a series of lectures and exercises that will provide the basic foundation needed to strengthen their physical proficiency and to acquire the basic soldiery skills of candidate soldiers. The BMT also builds up the unity, discipline, character, and camaraderie of the trainees as the future defenders of the Philippines' Sovereignty.

The activity was also attended and witnessed by the Officers and Enlisted Personnel of the Pangkat TRADOC together with the family, friends, and loved ones of the candidate soldiers.

As the Army vision for 2040: A World-Class, Multi-Mission Ready and Cross-Domain Capable Philippine Army. The recruitment of the Philippine Army for aspirant soldiers will continue in order to produce more competent, confident, and capable members of the Philippine Army and the AFP as a whole.

School for Candidate Soldier Sends Off the 371 Newly Minted Soldiers

CAMP O’DONNELL, Capas, Tarlac - A total of 371 newly minted Corporals and Privates who belong to the Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) "Mahigmayan" Class of 759 - 2023 embarked on a new chapter in their military careers during the send-off ceremony held at the School for Candidate Soldier (SCS), Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac on September 29, 2023.

The class composed of 224 males and 147 females, successfully completed the four-month Basic Military Training program facilitated by the SCS Training Directorate. Among the ranks of Class “Mahigmayan” are nurses, athletes, engineers, teachers, journalists, cyber and information technology professionals, as well as civil servants.
“Today, we send you forth into the real world, ready to face whatever challenges that may come your way. But now that you are not alone. You have the support of your families, the camaraderie of your fellow soldiers, and the unwavering support of your respective units,” SCS Commandant Warlito A. Limet said in his message.

“In closing, I want to remind you of the core values of the Philippine Army—honor, duty, and patriotism. May these values guide you in your military careers, and may you wear your ranks of Private and Corporal with pride and honor. Congratulations and may you serve our people and secure the land with distinction and unwavering dedication,” Col. Limet said.

The send-off ceremony was highlighted by the traditional shaking of hands and bidding of farewell by the 371 members of Class Mahigmayan to the SCS Training Directorate and their training models who have molded them into capable, confident, and competent soldiers of the Philippine Army.

"Class “Mahigmayan” ignites passion and unity in the sports festival"

Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – Graduating members of Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) “Mahigmayan” Class 759-2023 commenced their three-day Sports Festival at the School for Candidate Soldier (SCS) Basketball Court, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army on September 2, 2023.

The 371 graduating members of Class “Mahigmayan” will showcase their athleticism, camaraderie, and unwavering dedication during the Sports Festival which is scheduled until September 4, 2023. The said festival, which includes team and individual sports, will showcase not only their physical prowess but also their determined spirit as they wrap up their four-month Basic Military Training on September 14, 2023.

Amid the monsoon rains, members of Class “Mahigmayan” from Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta companies cheered their lungs out during the opening ceremony. Part of the activity are the 1-kilometer Banner Raising Contest and Cheer Dance Competition which was among the highlights of the opening ceremony.

“This sports festival was not just about showcasing your physical prowess but also about fostering unity, teamwork, and camaraderie” SCS Assistant Commandant Lt. Col. Josephus Emar M. Rempillo, said in his message.

Lt. Col. Rempillo also commended the graduating class for their outstanding preparation and unwavering dedication to make this activity possible. "The skills and determination you displayed today are a reflection of the qualities we seek in our future NCO leaders. I have no doubt that you will succeed in your military career," he added.

The sports fest was being conducted as part of the non-academic activities for Basic Military Training not only to produce physically fit soldiers but also to complement their development through wellness programs.

564 new trainees commence military journey in TRADOC

CAMP O’DONNELL, Capas, Tarlac - A total of 564 new trainees commenced their six (6)-months of Basic Military Training (BMT) during the opening ceremony of Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) Classes 783, 784, 785, and 786 - 2023 at the Makabulos Grandstand, Camp O’Donnell, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Capas, Tarlac on June 15, 2023.

The ceremony started at about 10:00 O’Clock in the morning attended by MGEN NOEL D BELERAN PN (M), The Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training and Doctrine, J8, AFP as the guest of honor and speaker. The 564 new candidate soldiers who took the oath as part of the ceremony for the Basic Military Training are composed of recruits from the regular and special enlistment quotas of the Army Signal Regiment; Army Intelligence Regiment; 1st BCT; Aviation Regiment; CMO Regiment; Light Reaction Regiment; Finance Center; Special Forces Regiment (Airborne); Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group; and Installation Management Command, Philippine Army.

The trainees are expected to undergo extensive transformation training from civilian attitude to military discipline. The training provides the basic foundation needed to acquire and strengthen their physical, emotional, and social abilities. All the activities in the training are designed to build up their patience, unity, character, and camaraderie.

MGEN BELERAN in his remarks, “Nawa’y mag-apoy sa inyong mga damdamin na nagsasabing gusto ninyong maging sundalo, ay manatiling nagliliyab sa kabila ng mga hirap at pasakit na inyong dadanasin. Nawa’y ang inyong nasimulan ay inyong tapusin, para maipangakong maging tapat sa inyong sinumpaan. Nawa’y lahat kayong naririto, ay sya ring narito sa inyong pagtatapos.”

“Bago ako magtapos, nais kong ipahayag sampu ng mga kasapi ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas ang aming taos-pusong pagtanggap sa inyo. "378 Special Enlist of CSC Class 759-2023 embark on Basic Military Training"

CAMP O’DONNELL, Capas, Tarlac- The Basic Military Training for 378 army special enlistees with 226 males and 52 females started on April 24, 2023, at School for Candidate Soldier, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army, Capas, Tarlac.

The said number of special enlistees who will undergo the mandatory Basic Military Training came from the different AFP and Philippine Army Major and Support Units which include the ISAFP, AFP Cyber Group, HHSG, Finance Center, Army Personnel Management Center, Army Signal Regiment, Army Aviation Regiment, Installation Management Command, 2ID, 4ID, 5ID, 9ID, 51st and 53rd Engineering Brigade, Army Property Accountable Office, CMO Regiment, Health Service Command, Reserve Command and the Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine, Army who will compose the Candidate Soldier Course Class 759-2023.

These young men and women will take the challenge to undergo the 4-month mandatory Basic Military Training for them to be qualified for re-enlistment. They are among the best and the brightest of the thousands who have attempted to join the special enlistment of the Philippine Army through the series of tests that the Philippine Army recruitment and selection board conducted in consideration of the special skills that the AFP needs.

The training will be facilitated by the training directorates of the School for Candidate Soldiers led by Col Warlito A Limet, the School Commandant, which upholds professionalism and competence in molding the candidate soldiers from carefree civilians into confident, competent, and capable soldiers guided by the Army Core Values and are expected to learn and embrace the warrior ethos, ready to serve the people and secure the land.

MGen Steve D Crespillo, Vice Commander of the Philippine Army, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his message, he gives emphasis on the cooperation among the trainees as it is an important factor in attaining individual and collective objectives. and achieving their dream of becoming a soldier. “

You have different reasons and skills why you are here, but whatever it is, there is only one thing that you should bear in mind, you are here because our country needs you. As a member of the Army, you have an important role to do in preserving peace and harmony by defending our country against our enemy. He added.

Meanwhile, top officials of the Training and Doctrine Command headed by MGen Luis Rex D Bergante PA, Commander TRADOC, and other staff attended and witnessed the said activity.

"Pangkat SCS goes to Pangasinan"

Camp O’Donnel, Capas, Tarlac – The School for Candidate Soldier has concluded its two (2)-day team building activity held at Agbagatanen, Agno, Pangasinan from 21-22 April 2023.

The activity was participated in by personnel of Pangkat SCS together with their dependents headed by the School Commandant, Col Warlito A Limet Arm (GSC) PA, and his family, aimed to foster an inclusive environment for camaraderie among its personnel. Likewise, it also resulted in effective communication that opened opportunities to discover team unity and cooperation.

Through different exercises and parlor games, the participants have learned their strengths and weaknesses that they can improve and work for.

Further, team building has been an effective way of knowing and building bonds within the organization that boosted deeper morale, relationship, and trust.
