Open Source Community Africa
A budding community of open source advocates and contributors across Africa.
Open Source has demonstrated the massive benefit of removing barriers to studying, using, modifying, and sharing software. We need to expand these essential freedoms to artificial intelligence as well, to ensure AI systems are accessible, reliable, and transparent. This is the goal of the Open Source Initiative's Open Source AI Definition. At this webinar, Mer Joyce, founder of Do Big Good and co-design facilitator of the definition, will present the definition's current version and describe the global consultative process used to create it.

Update from the OSCA Team 📣
We are deeply sad to announce that this year’s Open Source Festival - OSCAFEST 2024 has been cancelled ❌.
This was a very tough decision for our team as unfortunately the timeline we had earlier imagined to pull off this year’s festival has become no longer feasible and while we understand the disappointments it might bring to our community, our team is very intentional about maintaining the authenticity and quality of the biggest open source conference in Africa, hence our need to cancel this year’s, and re-strategise better internally, for 2025.
Ahead of OSCAFest 2025, we’re also excited to formally announce next year’s festival dates as 12th to 14th June 2025 💃.
While we look forward to pulling off a bigger and impactful festival next year, OSCA will still continue to roll out and implement other program activities and plans lined up to grow our OSCA community and the open source ecosystem at large, in 2024!
We’re deeply apologise for possible inconvenience this might have caused, and we look forward to giving you the best Open Source Festival experience in 2025! 🥹🙏🏼.
Thank you once again for sticking with us 🫂.
