Mesmerizing Instruments and Sounds

This is such a simple setup, yet with a truely amazing sound outcome!
Just a microphone in a tube, no effects added.
Ambient sounds bounce inside the long tube creating a series of overtones over the recording!
Please wait for the sheep to pass ;-)
In it's creator Graeme Leak Music 's words:
'A single microphone, rigged at the end of a perspex tube, is filtered by the tube’s resonance of around 80Hz. The soundtrack is entirely the sounds of the sheep and surrounds recorded with this tube-filtered microphone. No other microphones were used. A small amount of reverb was added in post.
Please listen with headphones or hifi speakers if you are able. The sheep have agreed to be part of live streaming events beginning early August.

Unfortunately I am still in a lot of pain with my back and think it best if I reschedule the soundbath. Apologies for this and I will post the new date very soon.

13/12/2020

I'm sorry to let you know that this may be postponed as I have hurt my back and cannot sit for very long which I something I need to do for the soundbath. Hopefully it will be better in the next few days but I just wanted to give warning. I'm going to see how it is on Wednesday and make a decision then - it if it postponed I will reschedule for early in the New Year.

The British Academy of Sound Therapy - BAST

The benefits of singing have long been documented – we know it feels good to sing, but what actually happens to our bodies when we sing?

In order to understand the therapeutic effect of singing and how our voices can help our overall wellbeing, we explored the scientific mechanisms underlying the relationship between singing and our body chemistry.

ITSA - The International Therapeutic Sound Association

Here’s a tip for you in these unprecedented times:

Taking time to breathe and calm down in this present moment can be a balm for our weary souls.

For example – From a place of stillness – breathe in peace and breathe out love. Tuning your breath on a mantra – Ya She Fee, Ya Ca Fee includes vowels and consonants in a soothing combination to focus on inner harmony.

Apologies for having been so quiet over the last few weeks - I've been finishing my music therapy training, trying to get organised, and start to make plans for both music and sound therapy activites and events for the New Year.

Before then there will be some online soundbaths, including one for the Winter Solstice and I hope you can join me. Please watch this space for updates. ☯️💖

He reates works connect to the sense of sight, hearing, and touch.
His geometrically configured constitutive works are formed by using metals such as iron, stainless steel and aluminum.
He carries exhibitions, performances, workshops in museums and galleries and these include "Fragments of Sound," which discovers new sounds from iron plate that has been melted into an irregular shape and "State of Vibration," using Chladni figures, a physical phenomenon resulting from vibration.

On The Frontline - NHS AHPs

Music comes into all of our lives, one way or another. It plays a huge role in our identity, culture, heritage and spiritual beliefs as human beings, and can be a very powerful medium by which to connect with our feelings, helping us to express them and communicate with others.

Our penultimate AHP Profession to discuss is Music Therapy: a psychological therapy which aims to help people improve their emotional wellbeing and communication through music; for example when confusing emotions are hard to express verbally. Music Therapy can help people to improve their self-confidence and independence, and enhance their concentration and attention skills.

Music Therapists can help people of all ages through emotional or mental health problems, learning and/or physical disabilities, developmental disorders, life-limiting conditions, or neurological conditions. You don't need to have skills or experience in music to benefit from seeing a Music Therapist, and settings they work in include hospitals, education, child development centres, hospices or care homes, prisons, and private practice.

Music Therapists are highly trained AHPs; they hold a Masters degree in Music Therapy, and they must hold a professional registration with the HCPC and have a high level of musicianship and skill. A small profession, there are currently around 800 Music Therapists registered in the UK. We hope that acknowledging and sharing information about the good work they do might in turn help more people to access Music Therapy in the future.

*This page was created to promote and celebrate the work of AHPs within the NHS. We are not directly connected to, or speaking on behalf of the NHS.
