Salary: £32k - £39k

Essential Criteria includes:
Must be a Biomedical Scientist currently registered with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
AND have completed IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in relevant discipline and have a minimum of 1 year’s post HCPC registration experience.
OR Must be a Biomedical Scientist currently registered with HCPC and have been employed as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist at Band 6 level for a minimum of 3 years, working in the relevant discipline.

Well done to all the 2nd year Biomedical Science DPP students who undertook their interviews for placement over the past two days. This next cohort of students will be starting placement within pathology laboratories across all the trusts in Northern Ireland from September 2023. Thanks to Biomedical Sciences, Ulster University and Dr Valerie Hinch for the hospitality and amazing views chairing these interviews (featuring James Nesbitt in a top hat!). On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Sue Jones and Michelle Payne to Northern Ireland. Thank you to Dr Valerie Hinch , Prof Stephen McClean and staff who welcomed Michelle to Biomedical Sciences, Ulster University and giving her a tour around some of the facilities. Next stop was South-eastern health and socialcare trust Pathology Department for some really interesting discussions around training and workforce as well as a tour of the department. Over in the Stormont Hotel, Michelle began the meeting outlining her role as workforce strategy lead. Sue then gave an oversight on her plans for the future of education and training. The meeting was well attended with attendees on site and joining virtually.Networking and discussions carried on with representatives from three universities.

For everyone who has or hasn't registered to attend Belfast Pride it is this Saturday 30th July!! This will be the first year the Institute of Biomedical Science has entered into the parade.
If you do wish to join the parade and avail of the t-shirt and lab coat pick up from outside RVH Kelvin Labs between 11-12 before making your way into the city meeting in Queens Square by 12.20 for parade procession to begin at 1pm.

After the talks, the AGM then followed with congratulations given to Sharon, Lisa, Stephanie and Glen on achieving Fellowship status.
As we welcome new members Nicole, Denise, and Dani to committee, we also thank former committee members as their commitments takes them on a different journey. for their time, dedication, support and friendship during their time on committee. There will always be a seat for you and advice/ideas greatly appreciated.

On Tuesday night, the NI branch their first hybrid meeting, welcoming David Wells CEO Institute of Biomedical Science to the Gasworks in Belfast and Sheri Scott online. On Biomedical Science Day 2021, Lyndsey Parker Blood Transfuion BHSCT was awarded NI branch Biomedical Scientist of the year. Lyndsey has demonstrated high levels of leadership skills, going over and beyond to keep her team motivated, inspired and making everyone feel valued.
And finally today, David Wells CEO Institute of Biomedical Science along with Shauna McAuley presented Lyndsey with her award. Congratulations Lyndsey.

Nominations are open for Science Council's CPD Awards 2022. This year the award ceremony is back as an in-person event alongside the prestigious Roberts Lecture!

"I strongly recommend a self-nomination to showcase to the wider scientific and technical community, the dedication to CPD from biomedical scientists," says IBMS Professional Support Services Manager Christian Burt.
