So why did we change the way we practice for and administer spelling checks? Here is a link to an article about Word Study, referenced in this homework help video about studying for spelling checks! Check them both out, and happy studying!

Word Study "Spelling" Practice So why are schools doing away with spelling lists? And without a list, how do you study spelling words? This video explains a SUPER, simple, and FREE activit...

Hello parents! The spelling pattern to help your child study this week is u_e. Thank you for working together to increase their skills. You are making a difference! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Parents! We sent home the last part of the Good Citizenship project on Thursday. It needs to be completed by Sept. 29th. The entire booklet is to be turned in that day and your child will be graded according to the rubric on the back. This will count for two social studies grades. Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope you have enjoyed working with your child on helping them understand and build these character traits. Have a wonderful weekend!

Last week we changed the format of our spelling tests and we are pleased to say that most students did a FANTASTIC job!! We know that is because of our wonderful parents taking the time and helping our students at home. This week our spelling pattern is i_e. Words like hike, ride, and bite are examples of words that follow that pattern. Have your child generate as many words as they can that follow that same pattern. Happy spelling!

Happy Monday! We hope you had an excellent weekend. Just a reminder: Part four of the Good Citizenship Project is due on Thursday, Sept. 22nd. Please complete the pages for Equality and Community Service. Please contact us with any questions. Thank you for all you do to help support your child's education!

Attention Parents! Spelling words and spelling tests have changed. A note went home today explaining that we will no longer give you 10 words to study at home. Instead, we will give you the spelling pattern and you and your child will generate as many words as you can that follow that pattern. For example, this week the words follow a o_e pattern. Words like drove, chose, hope, bone, etc. Research shows that retention is increased when students generate the words instead of memorizing a list of words given to them, so we are implementing this as of this week. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!

Part Three of the Social Studies Good Citizen Project is due Thursday, September 15th. Please complete these two pages: "Truthfulness" and "Respect." If you have any questions or need help with the project, please contact your child's teacher.

It's CLUB TIME! Cabaniss offers a variety of clubs for our students to participate in-- look over the form we sent home and send back your child's top three choices. Some of the clubs have limited space, so it is important to send your form back as soon as you can. All forms need to be returned by Sept. 16th. Please let us know if you have any questions!
