Warkoczewski Observatory
The Warkoczewski (The Warko) Observatory is on the campus of the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) on top of Royall Hall at 52nd and Rockhill Rd.
The Warko is used by the students of the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy and is open to the public. The observatory is open every clear Friday night May through October FREE to the public. Opening times vary with sunset. The observatory maybe closed during low temperatures and high winds. Access to the observatory is best by parking on the 4th level of the parking garage and taking the bridge to Ro
Due to the current weather conditions and the continued forecast for clouds, the Warko observatory will be closed tonight.
It's Friday and it's clear. First night of the 2024 Season.
No planets to observe.
I few of the staff are at the Warko. We may leave at 9pm since there hasn't been any visitors. It is rather cold with a bit of wind.
Well, the clouds stretch far and wide tonight. The Warko will not open tonight. Hope to see you in under a quarter moon next week.

Looking at the forecast and the predicted satellite loop, we are Not Opening tonight.
Looking at the radar and other indicators, it will most likely be raining around 8pm and afterwards. I know it is a bit early, but I am calling it now. The Warkoczewski Observatory will be Closed tonight.
With the heat index so high and given the observatory is on a roof surrounded by ballast stone for the roofing, and heat sink structures around, the Observatory will be closed tomorrow night.
Well, you know what I am going say...

Will be open tonight, but we don't promise clear skies. Viewing might be challenging. If clouds roll in and completely cover the sky, we will close.
With the weather being so unstable and pop-up showers happening, the observatory will be closed tonight. We will see you under a darker sky next Friday.

Weather permitting, the Warkoczewski Observatory will be open at 7pm for possible viewing of the comet. We close promptly at 10:00pm.
