For All the People: A Century of Citizen Action in Health Care Reform tells the lesser-known story of how movements of ordinary citizens helped shape the changing American health care system.

Visit the display in the Robert Wood Johnson Library of the Health Sciences, located in room 101 in the medical education building in New Brunswick.

If you are in the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, go through the double doors to the right of the Starbucks in the atrium. You will see the library on your left.

The display will be up until early January 2024.

The NJMS Reading for Humanity project “hopes to make books focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion more of a part of everyday conversation in the academic workplace.” Bookcases with free books are located in the B- and C- level lobby areas of the Medical Sciences Building on the RBHS-Newark campus.

Special Collections librarian Bob Vietrogoski donated about 50 books to support this project. The books relate to medical history and/or DEI issues, and include multiple copies of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, and The Pact, written by The Three Doctors, Newark natives Drs. Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins, who attended NJMS and NJDS and wrote about their experiences.

FREE FOOD! All are welcome to the friendsgiving event today at the Graduate student lounge on the college ave campus.

Please join us for this event. It will be in-person in New Brunswick at 17 Bartlett Street.

As banned books week ends we would like to share something from one of our librarians at the Smith library. These are miniature books smuggled from Western Europe to Poland during 1980’s. The librarian saved them from their time in Poland when there were strict censorship laws during the Cold War.

Event today!! Register online for either in-person or virtual. Check the link in our bio. Space is limited!

It’s banned books week! Go to for the top 13 most challenged books in the United States in 2022. That year had the highest amount of challenges in the 20 years of reporting incidents by the American Library Association. There were 1,269 bans or challenges nearly doubling the previous record set in 2021.

Banned Books week is next week. In the library we allow all voices to be heard and thoughts to be expressed. The free exchange of ideas is vital to improving our lives. We will take time to think about how censorship impacts our lives in the past, present, and future. What do challenged books tell us about issues facing us today?

Do you just keep procrasta-cleaning the house? Rearranging the furniture? Watching the paint dry? It may be time to get out of the house and reserve a room at the library for a distraction free environment. Click on the link in our bio to check availability today! photo credit .bk
