Go sign up for yours if you are in DC.
This would be a GREAT SCOUT project that can be done many different ways and encorporated in many badges, merit badges, take action projects, even higher awards. Food for thought 💡 🤔 💭
I Just signed up for the free composting pilot program in my city. Not sure if I will get picked but share as an idea.

RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
RIP to Girl Guide Queen Elizabeth II who passed away peacefully in her sleep. Not everyone knows she was a girl guide, but she was. And even as an adult, she visited many scouts (from different scouting organisations) across the world. May she rest in peace 💔🌎
Feel free to share from this post to honour her!
Did you know?? If you are a Girl Scout or a Girl Guide, you are (both) part of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts?!
The main picture in the middle is of (then) Princess Elizabeth posing in her girl guide (scouts) uniform in Frogmore, Windsor, England on April 11, 1942.

What an amazing project & learning experience, not just for Ms Ivy Akii, but for all those lives she affected for the better in her country. Imagine if we had more projects like this on this scale. It's amazing what these scouts all do!
Kenyan Scout Ivy Akii is my today! 💚What an incredible young woman who is & maybe she can inspire some more amazing scout projects around the 🌎!
She is helping build a brighter future for the country’s growing number of pregnant teenagers, them with an entrepreneurial skillset and network to address gaps in access to social, health, and financial support.

As public services stopped or slowed over three months of nationwide lockdowns at the height of the , more than 152,000 teenage girls became pregnant, a 40% increase in monthly averages, according to VOA.
Determined to help, Ivy launched Gingko Africa in Kibera, the poorest district in the capital of Nairobi, in May 2021. supports and teaches women and girls aged 13-19 - many without family support – in finishing their education and starting businesses to create better lives for themselves and their children.
“We need to through social support, health education, and skills training, so they can be successful, confident and independent,” explained Ivy, who recently joined the World Scout Bureau as an intern for youth programmes.

Gingko is changing lives. In June 2022, Ivy shared the exciting news with eight young mothers that after just one month of business, the group had sold nearly enough products to cover a semester of school fees. While their unexpected pregnancies could have seen them drop out of school completely, the program and network at Gingko made it possible for them to stay in school.
This wasn’t Ivy’s first successful cohort at Gingko - and it won’t be her last! Through the organization, she has empowered 72 pregnant teens and teenage mothers with 206 hours of training in just one year. So far, over 2,000 people have benefited from Gingko’s programmes, including students at six schools where they’ve provided education to mitigate the prevalence and effects of teen pregnancy in .
Encouraged by a year of successes, the programme is expanding into other counties across Kenya. Young women who have already been through from the programme in Kibera will help train new beneficiaries. Ivy has also co-authored a book to raise awareness of reproductive health, personal development and entrepreneurship basics, that is being translated into French so that she can bring the programme to Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal.

Girl Scouts will have a new CEO & it's first Asian-American CEO.
Did You Know... Martin Luther King Jr. was a Boy Scout?
MLK was in Boy Scouts of America. King was registered as a member of Troop 151 in Atlanta.
I am going to leave you with just a few of the amazing quotes from Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
~ “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
~ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

Genius & Hilarious 🤣
The rivalry between siblings is as old as time; although they have endless and unconditional love for each other, siblings also tend to get quite competitive, as this photo shows. When his sister took his $20 without asking, this guy decided to do what he knows best: pull a prank on his sister to teach her a lesson. Of course, these pranks are always harmless, but they are just annoying enough to send the message across.
As her brother, he has access to her laptop and he knows her weak spots – the biology project she’s been working on for weeks. It didn’t take long to devise this devious plan, and I can imagine the horror on the girl’s face when she wanted to submit her project only to realize she couldn’t find it.
Home Alone vibes anyone? 🤣 This is hilarious!
ADHD personified... 😂
