Brand Protection
It's important to protect your products from people copying them without your permission (counterfeiting) and branding them like your products. Counterfeit products:
Affect profits as consumers buy them instead of your (genuine) product
Can damage the firm's reputation as counterfeit products are often of inferior quality
May injure consumers because they won't have undergone safety checks.
Brand protection involves preventing unauthorised use of the brand and preventing any activity which could harm the brand's reputation.

Hey there, marketing mavens! Today, let's talk about mystery shoppers. No, they're not superheroes with hidden identities (although that would be pretty cool). Mystery shoppers are everyday people who pose as regular customers to evaluate the quality of service and products at a business.
But why do we need mystery shoppers, you ask? Well, let's face it, sometimes businesses can get a little too comfortable and slack off on their customer service game. Mystery shoppers help keep them on their toes and ensure that they're providing the best possible experience for their customers.
Plus, who doesn't love a little bit of mystery in their life? It's like being a spy, but instead of fighting international crime syndicates, you're just checking out if the local burger joint has their ketchup game on point.
So, if you ever get the chance to be a mystery shopper, embrace the role and have fun with it! And if you're a business owner, remember that mystery shoppers are here to help you level up your game. Happy shopping, folks!

Hey guys, today I wanted to talk about a really important concept in business strategy: Porter's Five Forces model. It's a framework that can help you analyze the competitive forces in your industry and make better strategic decisions.
Here's a quick overview of the five forces:
Threat of new entrants: how easy or difficult it is for new competitors to enter the market
Bargaining power of suppliers: how much power your suppliers have over your business
Bargaining power of buyers: how much power your customers have over your business
Threat of substitutes: how easy it is for customers to switch to a different product or service
Rivalry among existing competitors: how intense the competition is in your industry
Let's take a look at a recent example to illustrate how this works. The video streaming industry has become highly competitive in recent years, with the emergence of new players like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.
When we apply the five forces model to this industry, we can see that the threat of new entrants is relatively low, as it requires a significant investment in content creation and infrastructure. The bargaining power of suppliers is moderate, as the streaming platforms rely on licensing agreements with studios and production companies. The bargaining power of buyers is high, as customers have a wide range of choices and can easily switch between platforms. The threat of substitutes is also high, as traditional TV and movie theaters remain viable options for entertainment. Finally, the rivalry among existing competitors is intense, with each platform vying for exclusive content and pricing strategies.

Ambush Marketing
Attention all Facebook users! Have you ever heard of Ambush Marketing? If not, you may want to listen up, because this sneaky marketing tactic has been making headlines lately.
Ambush Marketing is a strategy where a brand tries to associate themselves with a major event without being an official sponsor. It's a way for companies to piggyback off the hype surrounding an event without actually paying for the rights to be a sponsor.
One recent example of Ambush Marketing came during the 2018 World Cup. Nike, who was not an official sponsor of the tournament, released an advertisement featuring some of the world's top soccer stars. The ad was timed to coincide with the start of the tournament and was strategically placed on social media platforms to reach a global audience.
Another notable example of Ambush Marketing occurred during the 2012 London Olympics. Subway, a fast-food chain, used the slogan "So much for the £5 footlong" in an advertisement featuring British athlete Mark Phelps. The advertisement played off the fact that McDonald's, an official Olympic sponsor, was selling their Big Macs for £3.99.
While Ambush Marketing can be a clever way for companies to get exposure without paying the hefty fees associated with official sponsorships, it can also be seen as unethical by some. Official sponsors invest a lot of money into major events and Ambush Marketing can be seen as taking advantage of that investment.
So next time you see a company trying to associate themselves with a major event without being an official sponsor, you'll know that they're engaging in Ambush Marketing. As a consumer, it's up to you to decide whether or not you support this type of marketing tactic.

Sampling Methods
Before an organisation conducts primary research it needs to pick a list of people/organisations to interview. You can not interview the whole population; that would be expensive and probably impossible. Instead if you want to conduct research which involves interviewing people, you will need to select a group of people to interview. There are a number of ways to select the sample of people to be interviewed; this article covers probability sampling and non-probability sampling.

Primary research is research collected directly from the research subject/area, by the researcher. It usually involves the researcher going into the market place (field) to find the information they are looking for. If the researcher does not go into the field they may send or place something into the field to record information for them.

Marketing Planning : Objectives, Strategy and Plans
The words strategy and planning are often used interchangeably in the world of marketing and business; this can be confusing. A simple way to explain the difference between the two is to use an example. Our example is about the business plans and strategy of two cereal companies; Company A and Company B.
