Hundreds of students from across Vermont gathered on April 4th at Vermont State University’s Randolph Campus for "Building Bright Futures 2025," an Industry Awareness and Recruitment Day that offered students a hands-on look at careers in the construction and building materials industries. Students engaged in workshops and activities, learned from industry mentors and local contractors, as well as heard from keynote speaker, Vermont Governor Phil Scott, who reflected on his own background in the trades. The event culminated with the presentation of the Shining Star Awards, honoring students who stood out in their schools. We are excited to announce that Sabrina, one of the HACTC's Building Trades students, was honored as a Shining Star and awarded a tool belt full of tools she can use in her future career.

Declining enrollment? Not at Vermont’s tech centers, where waitlists are a mile long The story of Vermont’s schools these days is largely defined by a declining number of school-aged kids. But the state’s 17 career and technical education centers are beating the odds — and seeing an increase in applicants.
