Tribute to Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA)
"The lamp that lit Kashmir with the flame of divine wisdom."
Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), lovingly known as Shah-e-Hamdan, was not just a Sufi mystic — he was a beacon of spirituality, intellect, and social reform. Born in the 14th century in Hamadan, Iran, he journeyed far and wide, ultimately transforming the spiritual and cultural landscape of Kashmir.
He brought with him the profound teachings of the Kubrawiya Sufi order, but more than that, he brought the soul of Islam — not merely through words, but through action, compassion, and service. His legacy lies not only in his verses and sermons, but also in the hearts of people he touched and the system of life he nurtured.
Through his missionary work, he:
Introduced the message of Tawheed (Oneness of God) in its purest form.
Established mosques, khanqahs, and centers of learning.
Elevated the lives of artisans and craftsmen by introducing Persian arts, calligraphy, and handicrafts — a cultural contribution that still lives on in Kashmiri tradition.
Encouraged ethical trade and social justice, uniting faith with daily life.
His famous work, "Zakhirat-ul-Muluk", remains a guide for rulers and leaders, emphasizing governance with integrity and justice.
Hazrat Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) was not only a spiritual guide but also a civilizational architect. His arrival in Kashmir was like the coming of spring — reviving dead hearts, healing broken souls, and shaping a moral society rooted in the Divine.
