The LIU Post Research Collaborative is an interdisciplinary network of LIU faculty and students helping conduct research within and for nonprofit agencies.

While research is the centerpiece of this endeavor, the broader goal is to more effectively mobilize the expertise of LIU faculty to assist Long Island nonprofit agencies and, wherever possible, use these connections to enhance student learning.

The Safe Center is doing some wonderful work! We are excited to be working on a research project with them that explores the relationships between trauma, treatment, and health. This study is closely related to the CDC Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study that shows a strong correlation between trauma and a wide variety of health indicators.

The Safe Center's executive director Cindy Scott and director of education Anthony Zenkus met with US Senator Gillibrand today at her press conference on sexual assault at the US Merchant Marine Academy.

This article was published today in the Pioneer about the Research Collaborative. While the article focused on me more than expected, it also highlights some wonderful work being done by and with ECLI - including a film on human trafficking being produced within one of Benj Gerdes' film courses. Drs. Alex Henderson, Lauren Mullins, Colby Valentine, and I are also working on some research for ECLI to show the overlapping needs of human trafficking victims on Long Island.
