Hello Colleagues,

The IAOMS board will be presenting on Intersection Analysis and Street Crossings at the upcoming annual IAER conference and we want you all to have the opportunity to be involved!

Our presentation will include a basic review of intersection and analysis and street crossing instruction. However we acknowledge that we are NOT the all knowing experts and after a review will break into small groups to collaborate on these topics. If you have an intersection you are finding a little tricky or one that you think your colleagues could benefit from seeing please submit the form below and we will try to include it in our presentation.

If you are interested in submitting an intersection please have the form below completed by 1/19/2024.

IAOMS 2024 Presentation: Teaching Intersection Analysis and Crossings Please complete form if you would like to propose an intersection to be included in our presentation. Submitting this form does not guarantee your intersection will be chosen. After all submissions are reviewed we will confirm with all if theirs were chosen.

“We would like to thank IAER for generously awarding the ISVI Birth to 3 Program a mini-grant for the purchase of materials to be used with families in their homes. The ISVI Birth to 3 program will be able to give 24 new families referred to their program a bag that contains a braille book, slinky, flashlight, bell ball, emergency blanket, gold pom pom, pop tubes, and a black towel. Many of the families referred to the program have little to no items within their home that enable them to work on their child’s vision and compensatory skills. We are so excited to be able to provide families with materials and strategies so that they can continue to play with their child and strengthen their skills throughout their daily routines. Thank you IAER for being so supportive of Early Intervention and vision professionals!”

“IAER generously awarded a mini-grant to me for the purchase of materials for Early Intervention. These items are not available through Quota Funds. I was able to purchase Ambutech canes, roller ball tips, toddler flat floor scooters and bell balls. All of these items are distributed to families and children receiving services through EI. The canes are typically recycled back to me and the child will “graduate” to preschool services with one cane they keep. The scooters are shared with families of toddlers and returned back to me before they age out of services. I will be able to use these with several families throughout the years. These scooters are a great way to motivate little ones who are not yet motivated to walk on their own. Providing the scooters allows the family to initiate movement with the child around the home on a flat surface so the child can explore with assistance. The bell balls I purchase from the Braille Superstore are small, soft balls that are easy for the child to roll, throw and retrieve. The balls are great for indoors and outdoors. Several of my littles use these in a daycare setting and enjoy the balls as a social activity with the other children. Thank you IAER for your continued support of professionals in our state.”
