What better place than Paris, the capital of fashion and beauty, to explore the intricacies of the luxury sector? Last month, we took 70 of our students on an immersive journey to Paris, where they gained invaluable insights from some of the largest luxury groups as well as independent brands. We were also very grateful to be able to collaborate with Cartier on an engaging roundtable panel on timeless design and creativity.

As a key focus of the week, our students tackled brand challenges with Cartier and Campus Versailles. We also had a number of speakers and company visits, exploring themes such as:

• Customer engagement and clienteling
• Balancing exclusivity with inclusivity
• Integrating sustainability in luxury
• Creative brand-building vs. commercial profit building

The week, led by Dr. Dafna Goor, Assistant Professor of Marketing, also featured a networking event with a number of local alumni, and a day at Versailles delving into luxury craftsmanship and history.

✨Is GenAI a threat to businesses or a boon?

Professor Michael Jacobides leads on a new paper examining if businesses are adopting generativeAI and whether they are making the best use of the opportunities it provides or girding themselves adequately for disruption ahead.

🎯Concerns about the accuracy and bias of GenAI’s output, questions of regulatory compliance and security and about the availability of professional skills and expertise were among the key barriers to its adoption.

🌪️The advertising industry is already facing significant disruption, with agencies making layoffs and their clients taking a few operatives in-house to deliver GenAI results directly. The paper duly noted that the entire industry may be “disintermediated or bypassed”.

💰Businesses should be urged to shift their focus from just reducing costs to exploring the potential for growth and revenue that GenAI can enable. This includes reforming the education system to prepare the workforce for new challenges in a post-GenAI world and gaining the support of regulators.

A cornerstone of London Business School's experience is working alongside other students from a variety of backgrounds.

Our study groups are carefully crafted for each cohort, providing a unique experience as you work closely with a group of peers with contrasting experience to your own, sharing perspectives and ways of working across cultures, sectors and functions. Many of our alumni tell us the relationships formed through their study groups at LBS are some of the closest they have had through their career, still supporting one another years on.

Olivier Espitalier Noel (MFA2024), Jean Zwerger (MAM2024) and Imane El Hafidi (MiM2024), share a small insight in to what their study group experience has entailed this year. https://ow.ly/QKYr50Sf8v7
