Decentralized Solar Power Plants coming to a Rooftop Near You:

The Department of Energy has provided a financial boost in the form of a $1.4 billion loan for Project Amp. This is expected to function as a decentralized power plant and is the largest solar plant in the history of the US. It will be able to install photovoltaic solar panels on rooftops all over the country. The energy generated by these solar panels will not go directly to the buildings that host them, but will be used to boost the national power grid.

Storing solar power with Salt. Yes you read this right:

Today, new developments have resulted in solar power plants that can store energy for later use. Solona, a solar farm based in Arizona and set to begin energy production in 2013 will be able to store solar energy. There is already a solar power plant in Sicily that produces energy long after sunset. The concentrated solar power plant, Archimedes, has been utilizing molten salt to retain energy. Molten salt, due to its ability to attain extremely elevated temperatures, is used as a way of amassing heat. It can retain higher heat levels than synthetic oil, which is why electricity is generated even after the sun has set. Other forms used to store energy include flywheels, which are generator-like devices that kick in when there are power outages.

Toxic toys are toys that have been found to contain harmful chemicals. These chemicals are utilized in the manufacturing process of toys. Due to the high costs of production all over the world, manufacturers of toys have resorted to “shortcuts” in order to save money and time. Toxic toys are made with harmful chemicals like lead, phthalates and Bisphenol A (BPA). Adults are exposed to these kinds of chemicals every day from car interiors, batteries and glazed pottery, but their bodies are able to detoxify themselves without any negative effects. However, the bodies of infants and children are not strong enough to get rid of these chemicals, resulting in developmental problems.

Ford ups Green EV Car Wars - 500 mile range??

A couple of days ago Ford announced that its upcoming 2013 Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid would beat not only the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid, but also the Chevrolet Volt's range, announcing more than a 500 mile range. We find this hard to believe, but if it is true great job Ford; as a 500 mile range would lift all limitations for electric vehicles and help accelerate the popularity of EV vehicles.
