🌟 Flashback to April this year when Magpie took to the skies in the AIAA DBF competition! A big thank you to the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer for their support under the STEM Student Competition Sponsorship Program! 🎉🎉🎉

With the generous support from the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer, we acquired critical manufacturing materials for the Magpie, enabling us to successfully complete all missions in the 2024 AIAA DBF competition. This support played a key role in our ability to participate in these challenging competitions, directly contributing to the development of our team's skills and the advancement of our engineering projects. Their investment has truly elevated our endeavors to remarkable levels. ✈️✈️✈️🎉🎉🎉

Skylabs VTOL had a successful fly day this week!

Testing the Prandtl wing on a traditional fuselage was a great success, with the wing exhibiting phenomenal gliding capabilities. The first quadcopter iteration, which will be integrated into the VTOL Aircraft, demonstrated impressive power and stability even under significant disturbances.

With these 2 milestones complete, the integration of both components is now underway. Stay tuned for our VTOL progress updates!

It's term 2 which means our FPV fly days are back. Starting week 2 Friday 6pm at Tyree G16. Our drones will be taking off into the air for races, tricks and much more. Come by to be the one pilot to rule them all.

That's a wrap on the 2024 AIAA Design-Build-Fly competition in windy Wichita! And we successfully completed Flight Mission 3 today! A great effort by all involved in our first attempt at flying in the competition. Over 1000 students from 93 Universities representing 13 countries competed in the Fly-Off!
By completing the 3 Flight Missions and Ground Mission successfully - we finished rank 24!
