Operating as usual
Yesterday I was working on this piece. It's not finished yet and I'm not sure which way I like it best. Here are a few photos. Which way is your preference?
EXHIBITION AWARD
So nice to hear that this piece was awarded 2nd prize in the Keirunga Art Exhibition last night. The exhibit is currently running in Havelock North, NZ.
Sold today at the classy Muse Gallery in Havelock North, NZ.
As a break from working big I began playing with this smaller piece. I actually like it a lot but I'm not sure why. The photo is not the best as it loses all the texture etc in the dark areas.
Finished today. I worked on the underpainting yesterday so that I would have some interesting textures to get me started. I really like working over a build up and thickness of paint. I have three pieces in this mini series finished. They are all works on paper and the image size is 13.5 x 20.5 inches or 34 x 52 cm. I don't know what tomorrow will bring but perhaps a different palette.
SOLD TODAY.
I love it when I get to meet the people who buy my art. This experimental piece will be gracing the wall of a home in Havelock North. Many thanks to the lovely lady who bought it
18 months ago we left Toronto and returned to NZ and settled in beautiful Hawkes Bay. I discovered the classy Muse Gallery in Havelock North and loved to pop in and see what work they had on display. I am now delighted to have my work there too along with many wonderful NZ artists.

I finally finished this years "Spring" piece. Every year something soft and a bit flowery shows up. This one is 30 inches or 76 cm . It was too tight looking before so today I loosened it up. It was fun.
COMING UP IN MARCH.
A real combination of painting and printmaking. More info to come.
I have always loved purple and green together but I have only painted a couple of paintings over the years in these colours. I have planted my garden here in NZ in these colours though. The garden was very sparse with lots of sick looking NZ native plants in it when we moved in 18 months ago. We have pruned, removed and planted with other things and it's starting to get the lush tropical feel that I love. It's summer here and I find it hard to stay inside and paint but this in one of two in these colours.
I was just looking through some old photographs and found this pic of a great piece of street art in Toronto.
These pieces always seem popular. You can find/buy them here: https://fineartamerica.com
Susanne Clark sold a 9.5" x 12" print on FineArtAmerica.com! Click on the image for a larger view and to leave comments.
This piece was one of a few of my earlier series of musical pieces that I still had. It was on my living room wall but sold at my recent Open Studio. I will miss it. The new owners allowed me to take a photo of it with them
Many of my musical artworks are available as reproductions from Fine Art America if you live in the US or Canada. Just search on my name and the words musical art. Great for Holidays gifts for musical friends.
It's a great opportunity to visit local artists studios and purchase artwork to give your home some real pizzazz!
Finally finished this piece. I love some of the colours together and intend doing another piece using the sage greens and mauves.
The word mauve comes from the French word Malva which means mallow flower. I have always loved purples and greens together but haven't used them in a painting for a long time. See this one at the upcoming Hawkes Bay Art Trail if you live in the area.
WOW WHERE DID THIS COME FROM??? Detail pic.
I started playing around with a bit of drawing and ended up with this. Not at all what I intended working on the last few days. This is just a detail part and it's unfinished. I have a Buddha statue that I love in my garden which came all the way to NZ from Canada with me. It's not just there for decoration as I rather like the Buddhist teachings on life. Years ago I painted a large Buddha painting and I love having that in my bedroom as well. It reminds me of the importance of living with calmness, peace and kindness to all beings. Have a beautiful and kind day. ❤️

I'M INTERVIEWED By KATE TAYLOR FROM TORONTO.
On the wall in the studio today. The photo is a bit washed out at the top. I'm on a roll and have several on the go. I feel I am finally getting back in the groove again. It's rather red but but I rather like the drama of it. What do you think?
Yesterday was a wet miserable day and instead of going to yoga and then life drawing I stayed home. It was so cosy with a fire going. I cooked a lovely dinner but best of all was able to paint most of the day. It's strange but without meaning to I ended up with two paintings of stormy seas! Not sure how that happened as I only occasionally do landscape pieces. I think I was affected by the windy wet weather.
Years ago I painted a lot of works on round canvases way before you could buy canvases in that shape. My first was stretched over the timber support for a round mirror from a dressing table. After I put the mirror on the wall I had this big shape to use. From that we copied the size and made more the same. Much harder than being able to buy them already made as you can now. The piece above is what I have been working on today.
STILL IN PROGRESS.
More realistic than I usually do but fun to work on.
