Attention!

Torit Government after had closed in May last year due to what it claimed: The school has no space for Assembly, Located in a residential area, not conducive for learning etc..
The same Government declared the 1St. Secondary school in Torit, South Sudan Secondary school results 2018/19.
Now again it is planing to demolish premises; including a church, clinic and nearby houses with aim to demarcate the spaces for 7 individuals who have been allotted more than 3 people in one plot at Omoliha Market to construct bars, shops, etc.
Quality education at home town has been denied to our own children. SO SAD!

26/01/2020

Benefit of Education

THE TOUCHING STORY OF TINKO

Today I present a young man by the name of Tinko, who comes from a family of eight and is fourth in terms birth. Tinko’s parents divorced when he was still a baby, a situation which, to a larger extent, contributed to the many hardships he would later on in life experience.

After the divorce of his Parents, Tinko lived with the aunt to his father in a Ludndazi based village called Tose. After six years in Tose, Tinko shifted to another village within Lundazi called Muyayi, this time staying with the Father to his mum. It is in this village were Tinko started school, in the year 1997 to be exact. Llater on, Tinko relocated to another village called Romase, were he sat for grade seven.

Grade seven was not so good, as he did not meet the required cut-off point. He therefore repeated grade seven, this time emerging with excellent results. In grade nine Tinko got excellent results, and was accepted for senior secondary education in three different schools. Among the three he chose one called Chizongwe Secondary school. In fact from his School, he was the only one picked to learn at Chizongwe.

His family members and many other people had discouraged him from venturing into senior secondary education. They kept reminding Tinko of the fact that no one in his family had gone up to grade ten. He, however, was so determined to keep climbing the educational mountain.
Due to many challenges, of which finances was the major one, Tinko reported three weeks late for school at Chizongwe. It was only after his mum managed to raise K60 for transport to Chizongwe that he started off.

His going to Chizongwe was to get transfer back to the village, owing to the fact that there was to money for fees and feeding. Upon arrival at Chizongwe Boarding School, the Deputy Head called for him to the administrative offices. The Deputy Head demanded an explanation for reporting late. Tinko explained to the Deputy Head his challenges, and requested for a transfer back to the village. The Deputy Head, however, advised Tinko to wait as he discussed matter with the School Head. The decision which was arrived at by The Head and his administration blew Tinkos mind off, as it was something unexpected. Tinko was called to The Heads office and told that he was given an opportunity to study and eat at the Boarding without paying anything.

Life in Boarding School was exciting as well as challenging for Tinko. He progressed so well, managing to do well in all subjects. On the challenging side, he went through a lot of ridicule from fellow classmates, especially in line with his noticeable poor dress-code. He normally kept indoors for fear of being ridiculed. Also, Tinko had no pocket money, or the luxuries to afford the things packed in metallic trunks by his fellow pupils (children coming from privileged background). What was more depressing for him, though, was when he failed to buy tools for one of his subjects-Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing (GMD). This caused him to drop the subject GMD, causing him to remain with exactly six subjects. The good news, however, is that Tinko got excellent results in grade twelve final examinations.

In search for continuity in education through University entarnce, Tinko found himself in Lusaka. He tried to work as a garden boy, helper to brick-layers and selling salaula. Life, however, proved perilous for him: money was hard to come by. He stayed many places, including chibolya, trying to make a living. At one point (for several months) he stayed at intercity Bus Terminus. He slept at the station during the night, and looked for money during day-time.

Tinko tried applying for bursaries and assistance from t various institutions, but all proved futile.

It was after someone linked him to CHRESO University that his life changed for the better. Dr Lawrence Mwelwa, the then Vice Chancellor of Chreso University, worked with his administration in giving Tinko his much needed University education. Tinko was asked to help in the School Kitchen and garden as he was eating free food as well as studying for free.
Today, Tinko is a graduate from CHRESO University, with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine. He is currently working at one of the CHRESO Clinics called ART.
Education is indeed a challenge for many, but together we can as a nation make it a possibility for everyone. God makes a way where there is no way.

Today Tinko is serving our lovely nation Health sector. Only God know how far he is yet to go in this life.
