We celebrated National D.E.A.R. Day at Cleary today!
We started the day with a 20 minute independent reading session, we welcomed guest readers into our classrooms via zoom, and the students participated in a picture book walk in PE/Library class.
Our guest readers, the BRHS Peer Leaders, were a huge hit! They shared their future plans, answered questions about high school life, and shared a book with the students. It was a proud teacher moment!

For all of my Hamilton fans looking for some reading to go along with the recent release...
Today's A Mighty Girl Community Pick: "Eliza" by Margaret McNamara. Thanks to the hit musical, many people know the story of the scrappy Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, but how much do you know about his wife, workmate, and inspiration Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton? From her work building schools and orphanages to raising funds for the Washington Monument, Eliza — who outlived her husband by fifty years — was a determined and resilient force for change in her time. This fascinating picture book biography about this Founding Mother is written in the form of a letter from Hamilton to her great-granddaughter, and is filled with exquisite illustrations that mirror 18th century American paintings, beautifully illuminating the life and influence of this extraordinary woman. Highly recommended for ages 5 to 9.
"Eliza" is available at https://www.amightygirl.com/eliza-schuyler-hamilton
There is also an early chapter book, "Eliza Hamilton: Founding Mother," for ages 5 to 8 at https://www.amightygirl.com/eliza-hamilton-founding-mother
For adult readers interested in Eliza, we recommend the excellent historical fiction novels: "My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton" (https://www.amightygirl.com/my-dear-hamilton) and "I, Eliza Hamilton" (http://amzn.to/2GTbNKa)
There is also a historical fiction novel about Eliza's sister Peggy, "Hamilton and Peggy!" for ages 13 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/hamilton-and-peggy
