Finally some clarity on the key worker list. Messages will be sent out shortly to you all x

The Department for Education has now published the guidance on 'key workers'. Only one parent is required to be a key worker to be able to access childcare.

It is important to note that this guidance states that in all cases, "If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be."

The key worker list includes those working in:

- Health and social care
- Education and childcare
- Key public services
- Local and national government
- Food and other necessary goods
- Public safety and national secretary
- Transport
- Utilities, communication and financial services

'Vulnerable children' includes children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children, young carers, disabled children and those with education, health and care (EHC) plans.

The guidance has advised that "if workers think they fall within the critical categories above they should confirm with their employer that, based on their business continuity arrangements, their specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service".

More detail on the key worker list is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

*** We have contacted the Department for Education to ask them to make it clear that this information applies to early years providers as well as schools and colleges.

'Nursery and teaching staff' have been included as 'key workers' and we are also seeking clarification that this includes childminders as well. ***

The government has also published guidance for parents on 'partial closures' in which it says on the issue of parent fees during closures: "We are asking providers to be reasonable and balanced in their dealings with parents".

Some funding information for everyone plus make sure you apply in time 😀

Change to Eligibility: From September 2019, Worcestershire will changing when children are able to access the additional 15 hours of funding to be in line with national policy. The additional 15 hours will only start from the beginning of the term after the family has applied for their '30 Hours Childcare Code'. This means that families who are intending to access '30 hours' from September 2019 must have applied and received their Code by 31st August 2019. Families applying for their Code in September will be unable to access the 'additional 15 hours' until January 2020. Universal hours are unaffected and children will be able to access these from the beginning of the term after their third birthday.
