Meet the Instructor!

Dr. Marquez leads the Arizona Campuses for Wayland Baptist University as executive director and campus dean. He also serves as Associate Professor of Biblical Studies for WBU, teaching classes locally and online. Dr. Marquez began working with WBU as an adjunct instructor in 2012. He was hired full time in the spring of 2014 as the Site Coordinator for Tucson. Dr. Marquez is active in Southern Baptist associational and denominational life.

Andrew Marquez is a graduate of the University of Arizona (B.A.), and Gateway Seminary (M.Div., Ph.D.). He is married to Jennifer and has three children (Caleb, Joshua, Silas). His hobbies include coaching chess, contributing to his podcast (Baptist on the Bible), and cheering for his sons’ athletic teams (usually baseball).

Wayland celebrates receipt of sketches and notes used to create mace | Wayland Baptist University Wayland plans to host a formal dedication ceremony for the mace sketch at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 11. The ceremony will take place in the Heritage Room on the second floor of Mabee Learning Resources Center, where the mace has been on display since it was retired from service.

Wayland Baptist University celebrates the success of 632 students achieving placement on academic honor rolls for the Spring 2024 term.
A total of 287 students were named to the President’s List with 345 making the Dean’s List. The President’s List recognizes students who completed at least 12 hours in a 16-week semester with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The Dean’s List recognizes students who completed at least 12 hours in a single semester with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

At Tucson’s April graduation ceremony, Assistant Dean and adjunct instructor Mr. Nathan Stephens received his third Master’s degree from WBU. However, that’s not the only thing he received that day.

We are proud to announce that Nathan was awarded the 2023-2024 Distinguished External Service Award for all his contributions and hard work for Wayland Baptist University over the past 10 years.
