Hi everyone! Sorry, I have been offline for a while! My post today is verrrrrry late as I should have posted it on November 5th. In the UK, we celebrate Guy Fawkes on that day, otherwise known as bonfire night. This admittedly quite long (30 minutes) but funny video explains why we do that, but if you've ever seen the film 'V for Vendetta', then you've already seen the face of Guy Fawkes...

Authentic British Scones • Curious Cuisiniere 17/10/2019

Are there any bakers amongst you?? I made scones this weekend and I'm not sure there is anything more British than scones, jam and cream served with a 'cuppa' (a cup of tea). Here is some background information and a recipe if you fancy making some yourself!

Anti-Smoking Advertisement 17/10/2019

In today's biomedical science class, we talked about banning smoking and this funny extract from the IT Crowd came to mind. This company has changed its smoking policy so that all smokers have to go outside for their cigarette break...Enjoy!

(BTW, did you know we have a word for people who flirt during their cigarette break? It's 'smirting'!)

Who are Extinction Rebellion? 16/10/2019

You might have heard about Extinction Rebellion over the last few days. This video made by Sky News is a clear explanation of who they are and what they want.

Who are Extinction Rebellion? They've shut down London, poured blood on the Treasury and caused chaos at Heathrow Airport. But who are Extinction Rebellion, why are they encouraging "civi...

When Scientists Created a New Form of Water Out of Thin Air 30/09/2019

Polywater is something we've talked about in several classes. Remember that 'new type of water' (?!) we mentioned? Well, here it is (or rather, 'here it isn't' :-p). In a nutshell, scientists were convinced that they had discovered a new type of water, but had they really? Read on to find out!

You all know my opinion about Brexit by now! Here is a speech by comedian Rachel Parrish commenting on how the UK will get through Brexit. FYI, the poppy she is wearing is for November 11th, Remembrance Day.
