March Break Social Narrative by @ESL_fairy 03/03/2025

March Break can be a confusing time for newcomers and students with Autism, as well as kids who struggle with anxiety around transitions.

Here’s an editable social story I made to help-scroll to the bottom for translations in many languages.

Funding has dropped by $1500 per student in Ontario under the Ford government.

Our schools are literally crumbling, and supports for student needs have been stripped away.

Ontario students deserve better.

Please vote accordingly.

Believe your child when they tell you what is happening at school.

The kids are not okay in Ontario schools where funding cuts continue to take away vital supports for students.

It's time to get rid of a government that continues to prioritize booze over our kids.

Yes, teachers can technically use Gen AI to write learning skills for report cards. BUT... in my opinion, this is the most important part of the report card. The one official space where I can record the things that matter the most... and I want to write them myself.

As I'm writing them today, I'm reflecting on how they are really like a bit of a love letter to parents/guardians about how amazing their child is, the incredible growth I have witnessed, and the hopes I have for their child's future. Writing these is good medicine for my soul.

I have students who are showing up to school every day without having eaten breakfast. Students who do not have enough in their lunch bag to last the day. So I beg for donations to feed them, and I spend my own money each week at the grocery store to buy them food.

Students are literally starving in our schools, and Doug Ford is providing only ten cents per child, per day, to address this growing need.

I can't even buy a single apple for ten cents.
