Thrilled to work with kindergarten parent and muralist
and the Literacy Committee to bring the youthful joy of nursery rhymes back to the walls of Peabody! Mr. Williams and his team of talented artists have completed three illustrations with more to come in the fall! Shortly after their graduation ceremony, rising first graders left their legacy handprints on these first works.

So fun to spend the last bedtime of the school year reading two of my all-time favorite stories with nearly 30 of our students in PJ’s and clutching their stuffies! Video conferencing comes in handy for magical moments like these! Happy last day of school to our students and many thanks to all for 17 amazing years! I’ll miss you! Love and happy reading, Ms. Bloom

Had a great first session of our caregiver/student kindergarten chapter book club featuring “Jasmine Toguchi Mochi Queen by . Perfect title during Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Our mochi queen and king participants introduced themselves and shared the number of siblings & cousins they have to echo that theme from the story; completed a character map; brainstormed special foods their families like to cook; and watched a video showing how mochi is made! Can’t wait for Session 2!

No better way to start off a year in an early childhood library than by talking about taking good care of books! The kindergarten students came up with great reasons to care for books and then practiced the “Peabody Way” of turning pages: lift the top corner; slide a flat hand under the page; slowly turn the page. Go Peabody Panthers!
