*IMPORTANT BACK TO SCHOOL UPDATE*

Dickinson ISD will begin the 2020-2021 school year for students on Monday, August 24. The first three weeks, August 24-September 11, will be Remote Instruction. Students will learn from home, and teachers will provide instruction via Google Classroom and other technology resources from their classrooms.

During the first three weeks, the hours of operation at all campuses will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m . Daily schedules for Remote Instruction will be provided to students after the registration process is completed and before the first day of school begins. Additional information about campus procedures will be provided to parents by campus principals in August.

Beginning Monday, August 31, campuses will welcome Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students who have selected Face-to-Face Instruction as the learning platform, as well as students in some special programs (ECSE, TIDES, SAILS, ABCD, WAVE and SEALS). The health and safety measures outlined in the DISD Re-Entry Plan will be required for all staff, students and visitors.

Registration in Dickinson ISD will begin on Monday, August 3. Parents of returning students will need to complete the online registration process and commit to Face-to-Face Instruction or Remote Instruction by August 14. Parents of students new to Dickinson ISD will need to call the campus the student is zoned to attend to schedule an appointment for registration. All registration information for new and returning students is posted on the Dickinson ISD website.

Access to the internet and a device (laptop, desktop computer, iPad or Chromebook) is necessary for effective Remote Instruction. If you need assistance with technology, please complete the Technology Survey that is in Skyward by July 27.

Prior to September 14, we will reassess conditions, and we will communicate with you if our plans need to be updated for the safe return of our students to Face-to-Face Instruction in Dickinson ISD. Thank you for your patience as we adjust our Re-Entry Plan using guidance from the Galveston County Health District, UTMB medical authorities and the Texas Education Agency.

At the present time, we are collecting data on the number of students who will attend Face-to-Face Instruction on campus or Remote Instruction at home. If you have not already indicated a choice, please login to Skyward and select Face-to-Face Instruction or Remote Instruction for each student in your home. The deadline for this choice has been extended to Monday, July 20. The choice you make now is not final. It will be used to help make effective staffing decisions and assignments at each campus.
Parents will make final commitments for Face-to-Face Instruction or Remote Instruction when the official registration process begins on Monday, August 3.
Provided below is a link to an introductory video about the DISD Re-Entry Plan. Additional information will be provided to you by the district and by campus principals, as we get closer to the start of school. Thank you for your patience and your support as we strive to meet the needs of students and families in DISD.
