JUST IN I 🔰SDO Caloocan Backs DepEd's Initiative to Plant 236,000 Trees for the Nation’s children

In a harmonious effort to give back to nature and foster environmental awareness, SDO Caloocan community joined the nationwide tree planting activity on Wednesday. This event is part of the Department of Education's project, "DepEd’s 236,000 Trees – A Christmas Gift for the Children."

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jenilyn Rose B. Corpuz highlighted the importance of this action, extended heartfelt thanks to the entire educational community within the division, encompassing the dedicated efforts of the supervisors, school heads, principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and stakeholders, for their active and valuable participation in this noble initiative.

Elementary and secondary schools commenced the day with a short program before moving on to the hands-on tree planting activity. The initiative aims to simultaneously plant over 236,000 trees, enlisting the participation of 47,678 public schools under the DepEd umbrella.

In a spirit of unity and hope, ASDS Flordelisa Pereyra remarked, “Today’s event is not just about planting trees; it’s about planting seeds of responsibility towards our planet in the hearts of our children. We are setting roots for a greener future, one sapling at a time.”

Echoing the sentiment, CID Chief Dr. Jocelyn Aliñab shared, “Each tree we plant today is a living legacy we leave for the next generation. It’s more than an environmental act; it’s a commitment to the well-being of our children’s future.”

OIC-ASDS Dr. Warren Ramos joined Camarin Elementary School, accompanied by Dr. Roger Morallos, the Regional Chief Supervisor. Their joint presence aimed to support the environmental initiative undertaken by the school.

The project received wide support from SDO Caloocan’s stakeholders taking proactive steps towards the goal.

🔰CID Spearheads Comprehensive Review and Strategic Planning for 2024

The Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) concluded its Year-end Evaluation for 2023 and embarked on Strategic Planning for 2024 at the Baguio Teachers Camp from November 27-29.

The three-day event aimed to assess the division’s accomplishments and challenges throughout 2023 and to establish a roadmap for curriculum development and implementation for the upcoming year. Key objectives included enhancing collaboration among CID personnel and improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of curriculum delivery.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ms. Flordelisa D. Pereyra, CID Chief Dr. Jocelyn M. Aliñab, along with various Section Chiefs and selected Supervisors led the discussions and workshops which provided a platform for sharing insights and best practices.

"The past year has been full of learning experiences," said Dr. Aliñab. "We are now more equipped to tackle the challenges ahead and continue our commitment to educational excellence."

During the session, participants reviewed the CID's 2023 initiatives, analyzing both successes and areas needing improvement. Workshops focused on innovative strategies for curriculum delivery, incorporating feedback from EPSs and PSDSs.

The event concluded with a strategic planning session for 2024, where participants outlined key priorities and set tangible goals to enhance the educational curriculum. The CID reaffirmed its dedication to adapting and evolving in response to the changing educational landscape.

As the event wrapped up, ASDS Pereyra emphasized the importance of collaboration and forward-thinking in achieving educational goals.

The CID's proactive approach in hosting this evaluation and planning session demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education. ✨

🔰CID Ignites Educational Advancement with
LEAP Seminar

The Curriculum Implementation Division took a bold step forward in fostering educational excellence by organizing the two-day seminar, "LEAP: Learning Advancement towards Quality Performance," on November 13-14, 2023, at Calamba Road, Tagaytay City.

The event drew participation including Public Schools District Supervisors, Education Program Supervisors, Learning Resource Management Officers, Alternative Learning System Specialists and the SDO’s top management.

The learning engagement, marked by its dynamic and engaging nature, achieved its goals at strengthening collaborative setting through a clear and measurable goals for curriculum implementation, facilitating discussions on the best practices, insights and challenges related to the implementation of the curriculum; and engaging in participative learning sessions.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ms. Flordelisa D. Pereyra in her message, “I appreciate all of you for fortifying a collaborative setting like this, establishing clear and measurable goals for curriculum implementation. With you, sharing experiences and innovative approaches, I believe we will altogether enrich the educational discourse and identify much effective strategies with potential widespread applicability.”

“This LEAP features participative learning sessions which will empower us with practical tools and strategies, promoting skill enhancement that could be directly applied in our professional roles in the CID,” said CID Chief Dr. Jocelyn M. Aliñab.

SDS Dr. Jenilyn Rose B. Corpuz facilitated the last session of the program. The interactive session has not only imparted new knowledge but also instilled a renewed sense of purpose and motivation among the participants.

The said LEAP transcended the traditional boundaries of professional development because the final day of this program revolved around team-building activities, during which supervisors engage in games and subsequently reflect on their relevance to their roles in the Curriculum Implementation Division.

The event underscored SDO Caloocan's unwavering commitment to continuous improvement in education.

🔰SDO Calooocan Elevates School Paper Advising through Specialized Training

In an ongoing initiative, Schools Division Office of Calooocan is currently conducting a specialized training program titled 'Division Capability Building on School Paper Advising for Newly-Designated School Paper Advisers (SPAs) and Trainers' at St. Joseph College of Novaliches, Inc., November 10 -11, 2023.

The training program aims to provide newly-appointed SPAs with specific and technical support, delving into the fundamentals of each individual and group contest categories. This initiative seeks to deepen advisers' understanding and proficiency in managing various aspects of school paper-related activities.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ms. Flordelisa D. Pereyra in her message, “Journalistic training like this is instrumental in preparing our SPAs and Journalism Trainers to contribute meaningfully to the dissemination of credible information among their young journalists, upholding the principles that underpin a free and vibrant journalism.”

“Our key focus is to equip you, our participants, with essential strategies to train and cultivate young writers effectively. By furnishing practical tools and methodologies, I believe you can be empowered in creating champions to represent our Division to the Regional and National Level Contests,” emphasized CID Chief Education Supervisor Dr. Jocelyn M. Aliñab.

This initiative underscores the Caloocan City Schools Division Office's commitment to the continual development and enhancement of Journalism in the Division.

Division Journalism Coordinator and Public Schools District Supervisor Tommy R. Rico in his message, “By investing in the skills and capabilities of school paper advisers, the SDO aims to contribute significantly to the overall improvement of the quality of school publications, thereby providing students with a more enriching learning experience in the field of Journalism.”

One-hundred thirty participants from different public and private schools participated in the said training.

“US Embassy's 'Read a Book : Learn a Word Program' Enriches Caloocan Grade 3 Pupils' Vocabulary and Imagination”

📍 Caloocan City, Philippines – November 6, 2023 – In an effort to foster a love for reading and expand the vocabulary of young learners, the Regional English Language Office, Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in the Philippines treated grade 3 students at Gregoria de Jesus Elementary School in Caloocan to a special reading program.

The "Read a Book : Learn a Word Program" left a lasting impact on the eager young minds. Dr. Carleen Velez, the Regional English Language Officer, and Ms. Connie Chico, Cultural Affairs Specialist, graciously visited the school to participate in the program. They shared captivating stories with the children, sparking their imaginations and engaging them in the wonderful world of books.

What made the program even more special was the distribution of dictionaries and children books to all the Grade 3 students. These reading materials will undoubtedly become valuable tools for these young learners as they continue their educational journey. Reading teachers also received reading resources from the sponsors.

Education Program Supervisor in English Dr. Christian Jay Y. Ilagan, initiated the reading activity, recognizing the importance of expanding the students' vocabulary and fostering a love for reading at a young age. This program aligns with the broader educational goals of the Schools Division Office emphasizing not just academic excellence but also the development of well-rounded, knowledgeable individuals.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jenilyn Rose B. 🔰Leading to academic excellence by focusing on the quality of learners output, SDO Caloocan, initiated by the Curriculum Implementation Division invited content experts along with Master Teachers for a training titled Assessing Learning Outcomes Using the Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) Framework Approach in Baguio City on October 6–8, 2023.

🔰This training aims to capacitate the participants to utilize the SOLO framework as a mechanism to improve their ability to process information, become critical thinkers, and become independent users of knowledge and information.

📍RIGHT NOW | Curriculum Implementation Division’s PSDSs and EPSs, selected SGOD personnel, selected school heads from elementary and secondary schools participated the Division Reorientation on School Improvement Plan, 29 September 2023 at Caloocan High School.

The activity aims to facilitate cohesion, unity, interconnectedness of quality basic education school planning specifically in the crafting of School Improvement Plan. Further to equip the participants with the necessary competencies to appraise the school’s SIP leading to the alignment of the SDO's strategic directions and objectives articulated in the DEDP, and the MATATAG agenda of the Department of Education.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Warren A. Ramos presented the contents and formulization of the enhanced SIP based on Deped Order 44, s. 2015.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jenilyn Rose B. Corpuz discussed the scope and content, information, requirements and uses of the different SIP’s chapters and sections as well as the contents of the SIP Appraisal Tool and on how to properly utilized it to assess the enhanced SIP with special consideration on the attached MOVs through annexes to support the chapters included in the template.

Participants had shown commitment and conviction that through the said activity, they are more capable to assist the schools in the attainment of the alignment of MATATAG agenda to the School Improvement Plan of every school in SDO-Caloocan.

🔰JUST IN I
SDO Caloocan’s Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDSs) and Education Program Supervisors (EPSs) participated in the Regional Level Virtual Capacity Building for Division EPSs and PSDSs on Closing the Learning Gaps and Improving the Quality of Education (CLIQ).

The said training is organized by the Regional Office’s Field Technical Assistance Division (FTAD) which aims to enhance the quality of supervisors and ensure sustainability efforts especially on recovering from learning losses brought by the pandemic.

SDO Caloocan CID Chief Education Supervisor Dr. Jocelyn M. Aliñab emphasized among the supervisors the importance of intensifying relevant instructional supervision, provision of technical assistance in school management and curriculum implementation while sustaining strong and harmonious relationships and collaborations among stakeholders to improve the delivery of quality basic education in the division.

The virtual three-day training commences on September 19 and will last until September 21, 2023.
