What do you dream for your learners?
Teaching is so much more than the sum of its parts.

Middle School Christmas Door Winners!
Our Christmas Door contest winners!
Some reasons we like our English Learner classes!
Mrs. Engelmann's students are having "talk time." They have talking cards with all sorts of questions to ask their partner. The cards are designed to build a rapport between the students and let them get to know each other better. They speak in English and use their translators when they need to. Afterwards, we discuss the new things they've learned about their partner. This is one of their favorite activities!
Two years ago these students earned Perfect Attendance Awards in Mrs. Engelmann's room.
Love this! ❤
Three Under The Rain
Starting Tuesday ALL K-12 students must wear masks in school when we cannot socially distance. The school will give you a mask every day. You will leave it at the school when you go home and the school will wash it. You will get a clean mask the next day when you come to school. This is to keep everyone safe and healthy so we can keep you learning and keep our schools open.
FYI....
You could also say this to a friend if they do not succeed the first time!
These are examples of the parts of speech we are learning about!
This Parts of Speech Poem would be great to share!
This is how you get smarter when you think you cannot do something difficult!

Mr. Travis Jordan's Wednesday word is PLETHORA. (PLETH-or-a) This means you have a large and abundant amount of something. Do you have a plethora of homework to finish? Maybe a plethora of dishes in your sink to wash? Is there a plethora of things you can do to keep from being bored?
Mrs. Engelmann has a plethora of admiration for all of you for the good job your are doing right now. Try to use the word plethora when you talk to someone this week and improve your English vocabulary!
Mr. Ehrisman is removing a concrete slab from his yard on "Tackle it Tuesday." What difficult job can you tackle successfully this week around your house?
From our nurses at Madison Public Schools!
From MPS Nurses Janet & Lisa....
What will you do today to learn something new?
Each and every one.
To tackle something means to do a difficult thing successfully. On "Tackle it Tuesday" Middle School Principal Mr. Reid Ehrisman is cleaning his toilet. This is not the best job but someone has to do it! Watch him and then go tackle your toilet! Your family will thank you!
Mr. Jordan's Wednesday word is ADAPTABLE. This means we are able to change and adjust to new conditions, like having no school and staying at home. We know that WE are adaptable as English Learners! You have had to adapt to a new country, school, food, a new language, holidays, clothing and much, much more! We have shown we are used to being adaptable. I am so very proud of all of you for working hard and doing your best in every situation!
Love from Mrs. Engelmann

In our EL Classroom, we live to celebrate our successes and holidays! Mrs. Engelmann especially likes to wear her Halloween hat. We all like to wear the Christmas hats! We study how holidays are celebrated in many other countries and talk about our own traditions and customs.
