This page is designed to recruit residents of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana to participate in my doctoral study about crime-based media effects on individual perceptions of crime, race, and fear of crime.
Operating as usual
Hello and welcome to my doctoral research study page. My name is Sharonda Cage-Hatter and I am a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) candidate at Walden University in the Criminal Justice Program. I am in the last two stages of my dissertation, which are chapters 4 and 5. I am inviting participants who are consumers/viewers of crime-based media content including, but not limited to, print media, social media, and television media. This study is designed to include all race/ethnicities and genders. Additional criteria that must be met are as follows:
Participants must be 18 years or older
A resident of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
Participants will be interviewed, which will consist of being asked to answer 10-15 questions about their lived experiences regarding crime, race, and fear of crime. All interviews will be
conducted face-to-face at an agreed upon day, time, and location selected by Researcher and Participant. Each interview will take approximately 60 minutes. At the conclusion of the interview, the participant will be debriefed and given an opportunity to ask any questions he/she may have. All participants will get a brief synopsis at the completion and approval of the study. Any interested party should contact me privately at my personal email [email protected] for confidentiality and privacy measures.
This study is voluntary, and you are free to stop the interview at any time. Please note that this is an opportunity to provide your voice regarding crime, race, and fear of crime. My research study is not connected or affiliated with my current position as a Criminal Justice Instructor at Grambling State University. This research study is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice.
Thank you all in advance for all consideration and time given to this matter.
