The religion of Allah عزوجل is incredibly easy. It’s simple. It’s truly beautiful and the only way available to acquire the best of both the worlds. And you can only apply religion through to faculties: comprehension and understanding. So if comprehension and understanding are the ways to apply the religion soundly, what do you think would be the targets of shaytan? To create obstacles, misguidance and do his best to promote reduction and harm in your comprehension and understanding.

What’s the way to protect yourself from this? The way is that you learn the Book and the Sunnah from the companions, may Allāh be pleased with them. You should realize that satan is a great strategist, he doesn’t give up and is very purpose-oriented, very focused and very patient. He has taken you for years as a study to analyse your strengths and weaknesses—he knows you. But he has no power over you. Allah is your Protector. You must ask Allah to protect you, and you must realize that His religion is simple and easy. Don’t put on yourself self-inflicted hardships and wounds. Don’t make things difficult for yourself. The way of Islam is to make things easy for people.

You have to run thorough diagnostics to see where you have fallen in ignorance, carelessness, negligence, extremism and/or procrastination—which has effected you in your understanding and comprehension. To return to the right way. Comprehension—the ability to truly understand, and then understanding itself of the direction on which comprehension as to be built, all of this is very important.

Focus on increasing in worship of Allah, making your daily adhkar and understanding the importance of protecting yourself in your religion. Because through comprehension and understanding you can apply your religion well, through which you can move ahead towards Jannatul Firdaws, satan doesn’t want this and is committed to do everything he can to not let you make it.

Ask Allah to help you. The admittance to Paradise is only through the Permission and Mercy of Allah. Ask Allah to forgive you and work hard to engineer yourself within—to become the person Islam wants you to be.

Islam teaches us the seriousness of intentionality. We know from an authentic ḥadīth that the deeds are based upon intentions. Which means your intentions are the real force behind your deeds, upon which your deeds are based. Imam Ahmad said that if you Intend good, you will be upon good.

As we can see the superiority of intention, the base of deeds upon intentions and the impact of intentions upon actions—all of this is soundly established in Islam. But we have many Muslims who quite don’t realize the importance of intentions, so they stay stuck in compulsive, reactive cycles of doing what they have always done of self-sabotage and using passing feelings and pleasure instead of intentions and discipline to pursue negative activities which appear alright but in reality are toxic and time-wasting. They don’t purify their intentions well. You have to prioritize good intentions. You must be sincere. You have to see the seriousness of your intentions—be it in marriage, a business you’re opening or have already opened, you public speaking, coaching or whatever.

If the intentions are corrupt, you can’t progress orderly upon the foundation of disorder. What does this mean? It means—bad intentions are disorderly. In order to have sound results—which are orderly—you need to have sound intentions, which too are orderly. In this sequence the cause and effect springs forth in the equilibrium of goodness upon goodness, the establishment of order upon order. Be very mindful of your intentions.

Focus on the purification of your heart and keep in mind that one of the most dangerous of all things that can ever happen to you is your heart being corrupted due to bad intentions without you having awareness of it. Run thorough diagnostics by being introspective and really seeing your inner condition. Prioritise intending well, this is from the foundation. Make sure this is done correctly; it’s very important for your future, your death and what comes after it.

Two of the main reasons why people are severely distressed because of the whispers of shaytan include—emotional intensity and psychological focus. By emotional intensity, I mean attaching a form of painful emotion and than maxiziming it till your neurobiology amplifies that pain. By psychological focus, I mean the mental power and attention—which energy follows. This combination by nature exacerbates and deepens the wounds and pain. In Islam, we are not meant to be pay attention to the doubts and whispers of Satan, we are meant to completely ignore this impure and low creation which even more worse than dogs and pigs. In fact, dogs and pigs, are more sincere, cleaner and better than shaytan.

What do you think happens when you listen to and amplify in your mind suggestions from such a low creation? Damage. Self-sabotage. Mental pain. Distress. Distraction. So what’s the solution? The solution is to do the polar opposite if you have been misusing and abusing the power of emotional intensity and psychological focus. Build emotional intensity in the right direction—towards feeling great, feeling balance, being aware, feeling grateful, being positive, scanning for beauty, rectifying what has to be fixed, healing well, happy, deepening your contentment and joy and being at peace as you are pleased with this opportunity called life. As you grow in your emotional intensity—in the right direction, the neural circuitry that has been causing pain will dissolve as the brain is a changing, adaptation-based evolving mechanism that follows your thinking, learning and focus. In short, your neural chemistry changes through change of emotions and focus—as you change the direction of your attention. That’s neuroscience and psychology of this.

Islam teaches you the same thing; if you focus carefully on the lives of the companions—what were they doing? They were thinking about the afterlife—which provided balance to not exaggerate the prioritisation of this world, they were remembering their death—which gave them clarity of a brief stay on this planet, they were focusing on gratitude, they were extremely well-mannered lovers of knowledge, they would smile and their chests were rich places of contentment, joy, love, sincerity and peace.

Which means that the companions were using the power of emotional intensity and psychological focus in the right ways, with the right attention, with the right intentions in the right direction. This is the way forward—this is the way to engineering your interior so your distressful psychological narratives fall away like dead leaves from a tree.

It is not from the etiquettes of the Muslims to insult what other people are worshiping. If you worship Allāh alone, you absolutely have no idea in true comprehension how blessed you truly are. Pay close attention to this Verse. Don’t insult what they worship.
