Definition of udhiyah and ruling thereon

The word udhiyah means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha because of the Eid and as an act of worship, intending to draw closer to Allaah thereby.

This is one of the rituals of Islam prescribed in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and according to the consensus of the Muslims.

💎In the Qur’aan:
1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only)”
[al-Kawthar 108:2]

2– Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allaah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food. And your Ilaah (God) is One Ilaah (God Allaah), so you must submit to Him Alone (in Islam). And (O Muhammad) give glad tidings to the Mukhbitoon [those who obey Allaah with humility and are humble from among the true believers of Islamic Monotheism]”[al-Hajj 22:34]

💎In the Sunnah:
– It was narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari and Saheeh Muslim that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sacrificed two white rams speckled with black. He slaughtered them with his own hand, said ‘Allaahu akbar’ and put his foot on their necks.”

📚Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Udhiyah is Sunnah mu’akkadah for the one who is able to do it, so a person should offer the sacrifice on behalf of himself and the members of his household.”

Concerning this issue there is a well-known difference of opinion among the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them). Most of the scholars are of the view that udhiyah is not obligatory.

The Hanafis and Imam Ahmad, according to one report, which is also the view favoured by Ibn Taymiyah, are of the view

The day of ‘Arafaah, which is the ninth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah.

It is recommended to fast on the day of Arafaah for those who are not performing Hajj. "fasting on the day of Arafaah is not obligatory".

Virtues of the Day of Arafaah:

1. 💎 Fasting on this day is an expiation for two years.

It was reported from Abu Qutaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” Narrated by Muslim.

2. 🕌 It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allaah’s Favour was completed.

In Al-Saheehayn it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a Jewish man said to him, “O Ameer al-Mu’mineen, there is a verse in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an ‘Eid (festival).” ‘Umar said, “Which verse?” He said: “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [Quran, al-Maa’idah 5:3 – interpretation of the meaning]. ‘Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him. It was when he was standing in ‘Arafaah on a Friday.”

Fasting means abstaining from things which break the fast, such as food, drink and in*******se, from the break of true dawn (time of calling to Fajr) until sunset (time of calling to Maghreb), with the intention of fasting.

Are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah more special than other days? What are the righteous deeds that it is recommended to do a lot of during these ten days❓

💎Among the great seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, which Allaah has favoured over other days. It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.” They said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari

So the Muslim should start these days with sincere repentance to Allaah, then he should do a lot of righteous deeds in general, then he should pay attention to doing the following deeds:

1 –🌴 Fasting

It is Sunnah for the Muslim to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged us to do righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and fasting is one of the best of deeds, which Allaah has chosen for Himself as it says in the hadeeth qudsi: “Allaah says: ‘All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari

عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ( عِصَابَتَانِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَحْرَزَهُمَا اللَّهُ مِنْ النَّارِ : عِصَابَةٌ تَغْزُو الْهِنْدَ ، وَعِصَابَةٌ تَكُونُ مَعَ عِيسَى بْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام ) العصابة : الجماعة . أحرزهما : وقاهما.

رواه النسائي (رقم/3175)، والإمام أحمد في " المسند " (37/81) طبعة مؤسسة الرسالة ، وحسنه محققو هذه الطبعة ، وصححه الألباني في " السلسلة الصحيحة " (رقم/1934)

والذي فهمه العلماء من ظاهر حديث ثوبان أن غزوة الهند المقصودة ستكون في آخر الزمان ، قرب زمن نزول عيسى بن مريم عليهما السلام ، وليس المقصود الغزو الذي وقع في عهد معاوية بن أبي سفيان رضي الله عنه .

قال الحافظ ابن كثير رحمه الله :

" وقد غزا المسلمون الهند في أيام معاوية سنة أربع وأربعين، وكانت هنالك أمور سيأتي بسطها في موضعها ، وقد غزا الملك الكبير الجليل محمود بن سبكتكين صاحب غزنة في حدود أربعمائة بلاد الهند ، فدخل فيها ، وقتل ، وأسر ، وسبى ، وغنم ، ودخل السومنات ، وكسر الند الأعظم الذي يعبدونه ، واستلب سيوفه ، وقلائده ، ثم رجع سالما مؤيدا منصورا " انتهى.
" البداية والنهاية " (6/223)

ولذلك يقول العلامة حمود التويجري رحمه الله :
" وما ذكر في حديث أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه الذي رواه نعيم بن حماد من غزو الهند ؛ فهو لم يقع إلى الآن ، وسيقع عند نزول عيسى بن مريم عليهما الصلاة والسلام ، إن صح الحديث بذلك . والله أعلم " انتهى.

❤️❤️قال تعالى: "هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ" (الصف: 9).
❤️ وفي الحديث الصحيح الذي رواه الطبراني عن أبي أمامة قال: قال ﷺ: "والذي نفسي بيده لا تذهب الأيام والليالي حتى يبلغ هذا الدين مبلغ هذا النجم
❤️ وفي الحديث الصحيح الذي رواه الإمام أحمد ومسلم عن ثوبان أنه ﷺ قال: "إن الله زوى لي الأرض فرأيت مشارقها ومغاربها؛ وإن ملك أمتي سيبلغ ما زوي لي منها".

This following short chapter (The Holy Quran, 112).

قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
(1) Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One.
Alone, without another, indivisible with absolute and permanent unity and distinct from all else. The one and only true deity, unique in His essence, attributes and deeds.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
(2) Allāh, the Eternal Refuge.
He who is absolute, perfect, complete, essential, self-sufficient and sufficient to meet the needs of all creation; the one eternally and constantly required and sought, depended upon by all existence and to whom all matters will ultimately return.

لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ
(3) He neither begets nor is born,

وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ
(4) Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
Alone, without another, indivisible with absolute and permanent unity and distinct from all else. The one and only true deity, unique in His essence, attributes and deeds.
