Merry Christmas! Do something nice for an orphaned animal.
🐕🎅🎁
Well folks, I’m sure you heard my mama cussing me out this morning. I had to p*e, and it was dark, and she took me outside like we do every morning. Well, there was something in the bushes and I decided to investigate by taking off at 100 miles an hour leaving her slipping and sliding in the mud. Well folks, there was a loud thud and she went down. Yelling began, “Drew Brees….!!!!” Well, when she got up she was all muddy and I just knew dad was going to get in trouble. When we got in the house after it took her about ten minutes to get up, she let him have it.. “ how come you never have to do anything in the morning?” I was just thinking that was a good question, so I moved from sitting with my dad as soon as we got back for my own protection , to sitting with my mom cuz he was getting in trouble!
‼️ WE ARE FULL‼️
Yes folks, you read that right. Just like many other shelters and rescues, we are also OVER capacity 😞
Owner surrenders are through the roof. The phone calls, voicemails and emails are endless. Strays keep filing in, and many have not been claimed. We now have no open kennels or cages and a limited number of foster homes available.
We are reaching out to our community of amazing supporters for some much needed help. Here are just a few ways you can lend a helping hand ❤️👇
🐾 DONATE - whether it be a monitary donation or supplies, every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated by everyone here at HAHS!
Make a monitary donation: https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/Donate
Our amazon wishlist: https://a.co/b909HIr
🐾 ADOPT - We have oodles of amazing dogs and cats right now that would be over the moon to find their furever home 🏡
🐶🐱 Adoptable pets: https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/adoptable-pets
📝 Adoption process/application: https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/Adoptionprocessandfees
If you can’t adopt, perhaps consider sponsoring an animal’s adoption fee, share the available animals, tag people you know who are looking to add a friend to their family 🙂
🐾 VOLUNTEER - We are always looking for dog walkers and help with cleaning kitty kennels. We also would love some friends to help provide enrichment and socialization to our shelter pets
https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/volunteer4130df89
🐾 FOSTER - Provide a temporary home to a shelter pet to get them out of the stressful shelter environment. We are in great need of foster homes right now!

🐾 SPAY & NEUTER - Please, please, please 🙏 spay and neuter your pets. It is the only way to truly control the ever growing pet population and to help prevent anything like this from happening again in the future. Be a part of the solution 💕
If you are not able to help in any of the ways above, then please take the time to share our posts, & advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. We could not do what we do without the love and support of our community. You guys are amazing 💕
💕 help if you're able

I’m trying to have fun with my kitty Arthur and fat Wilma keeps watching me and she is going to thump me!
I am strong and Fat wilma is not going to boss me around!
I’m Drew Brees- “I live with cats.” I have big cats, small cats, fat cats and tall cats. Moral of my story is…. if you have cats you won’t have rats! Woof! Stop complaining about the TNR ladies folks!😃
Look at me “Drew Brees.” I’m still beautiful and still scared of Fat Wilma…
Please be prepared. Be a responsible Dog Lover. Lets keep them secure and safe. 🐾
Mom told me I can’t be a “real” farm dog because ole Drew Brees dog is afraid of snakes. There was one on the step and I was going to the winery with dad and nope, he scared me. I wouldn’t go, I ran back to the house to be with my mom!

UPDATE June 9
Unfortunately we have heartbreaking news to share with you. 💔💔💔 Our puppy had to be euthanized last night. The poor girl was in distress and pain and the decision was made to humanely euthanize her. Special thanks 🙏 to Bath Veterinary Hospital for all the care they provided. They went above and beyond to give this girl the best chance to overcome all the obstacles but unfortunately it still wasn’t enough. 😭😭😭 Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words for her ❤️🐾
UPDATE 6/8
This sweet girl spent the night at one of BVH veterinarians home. She is eating 1-2 tablespoons of baby food every couple hours, and getting IV fluids. She was able to raise her head and wag her tail this morning 🥰 She will stay with the vet where she can continue to be monitored closely until she gets past this critical stage. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her, but hopefully she will pull through this. Thank you to everyone who has donated towards her care, we couldnt do it without you ❤️
🚨🚨GRAPHIC AND HEARTBREAKING PHOTOS💔💔
Yesterday we received a phone call asking if we could take in a puppy for surrender. We were told that the puppy was a little skinny and possibly was sick. The puppy was surrendered to us today. What we saw when this puppy came in was beyond words. 😥 This poor little girl was incredibly emaciated and needed emergency medical care.
We quickly transported the puppy to the amazing staff at the Bath veterinary hospital. ❤️🐾 The puppy is being examined and is getting the best care and treatment that she needs. We will update everyone as we know more.
Our amazing Frosty Fund is set up for cases like these. We are so very grateful for our community, and we could not do this without you. If you could help support her medical bills, we would greatly appreciate it.
We have a foster kitty from Hornell Area Humane Society. Someone please want to adopt him soon, he is stealing all my Drew Brees thunder. “No,no Drew Brees, we love, love the kitties!”

📣📣Sweet Conway is really starting to wonder why no one has adopted him yet. Conway has been with us since May 8th of 2021. He is coming up on his 2-year anniversary and is ready to find his forever home. ❤️ Conway is a little shy at first but warms up very quickly. He would do best in a quieter environment. Stop in today to meet Conway and see if he is the one for you. 🐈🐈
Just me and my friend at doggie day care taking selfies 😀
I am George, a homeless senior with extra toes on my paws and an extra large heart. In December 2022, I was rescued from a bad situation, and now I’ve been waiting at the shelter for months to find my forever home. Despite having limited human contact in the past, I love people and greatly enjoy spending time with them. The hardest part of living in a shelter, though, is that I always have to say goodbye to my visitors at the end of the day. I long for a forever home where I can be with my loved ones all the time.
UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!!!!!
As a senior cat, I dream of spending my golden years surrounded by comfort and tenderness with someone who appreciates my extra toes and gentle spirit. I want to be the best friend anyone could ever ask for, always there to offer a soothing purr or a warm snuggle. And while I may not run and play as much as I used to, I am healthy and full of life, and I am more than ready to be a wonderful companion.
Could that someone special I’m searching for be you? Please contact the shelter and/or submit an application to apply for me. You adopting me would be the best gift I could receive.
* George is a 10-year-old sweetheart who truly adores both people and other cats. He may do well living with a laid-back pup, but can be dog-tested upon request to confirm.

⚠️ Attention! ⚠️
Our Livonia Clinic has moved into their new building. The address is 6611 Richmond Mills Rd!
Every two seconds a family companion is lost. 😔Many of them never return home, a microchip is non-removable form of identification. While it is not a GPS tracker if a dog is picked up by a dog control officer or taken to a vets office and scanned with a microchip scanner- the code that pops up is linked to the owners information and the microchip company has all of that information!
So to help them get some safely to your family, we recommend getting them microchipped!
We currently offer microchips for dogs and cats for $35/animal! 🐶🐱
📞 Give us a call at 607-324-1270 to schedule an appointment!
Keep your pets protected against rabies by visiting one of our upcoming clinics. This year's first clinic is on Saturday, March 25 in South Corning. See https://www.steubencountyny.gov/407/Rabies-Information for more clinics.
Pets must be at least 12 weeks old for their first rabies shot. Bring animals on leashes or in cages. If your pet has been vaccinated against rabies before, bring their certificate to get a shot that is good for 3 years (instead of 1 year). The clinic is free; a $5 donation per pet really helps with clinic costs, but is not required.
