Celebration of Swachhta Pakhwada –Swachhta Hi Seva 2023
The Govt.Degree college Dharmari celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada by conducting various activities throughout the week preceding Gandhi Jayanti. On penultimate day that is 1st October 2023, the College NSS Unit created and conducted two events on Swachhta. First event was conducted in the form of a targeted cleanliness drive at market place Saunchal Gali of Adopted village Thuru/Dharmari which was joined by whole staff of the college along with 25 NSS Volunteers who cleansed the locality of the plastic waste and other scattered litter collecting in total 20 kg of the Plastic Waste which was handed over to the local authorities to be disposed off. Second event was in the form cleanliness cm awareness campaign which was led by Dr. Mohd Akhtar on behalf of the college along with the NSS volunteers. This event was collaborated by the various departments of Sub-divisional Administration Dharmari, Panchayat Representatives Thuru A1 and general public of the market and residential locality Dharmari. In this the common pledge was administered, whole locality, which contains public and private buildings and institutions, was sanitized. The general public appreciated the collective event which was overall led by the Sarpanch Jan Mohd and other representatives of the public. These events were conducted under supervision of Principal Dr. Preetpal Kour under patronage of Worthy Principal Secretary Sh. Alok Kumar and Director Colleges Dr Yasmeen Ashai.

NSS Camp under the aegis of Van Mahotsav

Van Mahotsav week was celebrated in the Government Degree College Dharmari. The NSS unit of college in collaboration with Forest Department Dharmari charted out a week long activities schedule of the special camp aiming at contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment. Different activities such as Site selection, Earth work, digging of pits etc were carried out on different days as per schedule. On final day 12.07.2023 the final plantation drive was conducted wherein SDM Dharmari and DFO Dharmari were present as guests. In total, 60 saplings of different varieties were planted in the newly constructed college campus. The officials from the forest Department also conducted an awareness session for the students, Paryavaran Mittra Club was constituted and pamphlets were distributed among the students.

The programme was conducted under overall guidance and patronage of the principal Dr. Preetpal Kour, the faculty member who actively participated and coordinated the programme were Mr. Baldev Singh (NSS PO), Members of NSS Committee (Dr. Javed Iqbal Tramboo, Mr. Anoj Kumar, Mr. Khalid Sajad Bohra, Dr. Mohd Akhtar and Mr. Ashok Kumar).

Speaker of the awareness Programme was Medical Officer Dr. Farahat Un Nissa. In this thought provoking lecture she apprised the students about the current Health issues.
