John Lake 1980, Grade 8 Grad - 40th Reunuion

For friends of ours who were in classes in John lake, and graduated in 1980

Finally spring is upon us. Finally. F**k that snow was crazy. Anyway, the plan is still on. We have no back up plan incase it rains. But it’ll figure itself out.

For that day… not everyone needs to bring a roll TP and black garbage bag but bring something for the house (or for Bob H and his generosity. We are all adults… (what?! Really?! lol) so the whole idea is not to make Bob’s life difficult for having us hooligans in his back yard 🤭

Enjoy the spring and looking forward to whoever can make it in May. Feel free to private message my personal page if you have any questions.

The time has come!!! We are going to do a get together one Saturday in May….
Finally 😂

Bob H is once again able to open his back yard to us so we can hang out.

We are doing a casual afternoon (into the evening - so bring yer Off) of BYOB, and bring your own snacks, chair, as well as a big black garbage bag and roll of TP for the house.

Bob would like to know who is interested?

And we would like to know if anyone has Saturday in May? Before Bob names the Saturday ideal for him.

(Some people mentioned they’d prefer not to do the long weekend)

We look forward to hearing from you then seeing you too!!

Hi hi all!!

Bob H and I are once again tossing around the idea for a John Lake get together next summer 2024. We are aware that Joe Patterson is working to put together a bowman 40th get together so we will be really mindful with the weekend as we know some of you need to travel.

Bob H and I are just wanting something seriously laid back. Hanging in his back yard.

We want to just sit and visit because it’s been forever!!

Bring your own chair and booze/pop. Each being a roll of toilet paper! Really lol 😂 and even some munchies to share. The rest will figure itself out.

If many of you are interested in a tour of John lake. I’ll look into setinng it up for us.

Okay! So no date yet but I’ll keep you all posted!! Looking forward to it!!

And if the majority wants to wait til 2025, so they can just travel to one next summer, we can do that too! Or even have two! It’s not like we are going anywhere!

Posted by our good friend Barb K today. We are thinking of you ♥️

RIP Dad 💔 (March 21,1935-March 19, 2023).

Miss you so much already! It was truly an honour to take the journey with you, allow you to be in your home comfortably until the moment you passed. Love you so much…

***update on a little get together***
This Friday, may 6th at 7pm at somewhere else pub. 2605 Broadway Ave. In Avalon shopping center across from John lake.

I’ll swing by and pick up Aleyna, we should get there around six because they don’t take reservations. Robert Hushagen will be there around seven. Leanne Sheu, and Margarita, so far… hopefully barb K too! When we arrive at six, I’ll grab a table for ten. Their steak night is back on and the band starts at 8:30… I guess live music is back on too (so might be a cover charge but I didn’t ask. I forgot lol)

02/05/2022

Today I saw Leanne at Bette’s service. She and I thought it would be a lovely idea to get together one evening this week while Aleyna is home. A casual get together at Somewhere Else. Not sure what night yet as Aleyna is still figuring her schedule (and I mine) but wanted to give you all a head’s up as I’m thinking we would love to see each other again!! (Although Aleyna may see this, we have not told her yet 🥰)

28/04/2022

Aleyna Gonick Mah’s mom - Bette-Ellen passed unexpectedly yesterday. Aleyna’s dad had predeceased five years ago almost to the day. Bette-Ellen was 80 (and so was Aleyna’s dad at the time of his passing in 2017)

Happy new year my friends! Todd might be popping around in March. I’d love to catch up and see those of you who are up to it. Happy new year my friends.

Omgoodness it just dawned on me that those of you I started kindergarten with….we’ve known each other for 50 years as of right now!!!!!!!

Craziness!!!!!!!!!

21/05/2021

So I was thinking.... do you realize those of us who started kindergarten together at John Lake will have known each other for 50 years this September? 🤯

hey guys, I know Saskatoon's restrictions are being lifted, however, Bob (Robert H.) nor I are excited to plan anything for a JL reunion this summer - and of course there would be no school tour. That said, maybe next year, so stay in touch, and I hope you all are safe, stay safe and enjoy your summer, maybe we can revisit a get together next summer.

The date is the August long weekend. Evening of July 31, Saturday Aug 1st and then for those who’d like I was thinking we could visit Sunday Aug 2nd perhaps. (And then Monday is a holiday so you can have even more time to travel or visit.)
I’ve not nailed down all the details of where or called JohnLake for a tour yet but when I do have more specific details I’ll post an event page.
Thanks for all the input and date suggestions. I appreciate the input.

Feel free to private message me or post any other input. Thanks

The first date I’m proposing is July 31st (which is also August long)

I think this will be great! I'm just not sure what all to do.

I'd like to tour JL (but will need help arranging that)

I'd love a night with beverages but somewhere without a band so we can all visit.

I'd love an afternoon barbque or snacks after a school tour so we can visit and laugh more.

I'd prefer a Friday night til Sunday brunch thing.

I know for some of us this will be the last time we see each other.

11/02/2020

this page is also just for spitballing ideas, once we choose a date I'll make an event page so it's easier. I'm just getting my brain moving again after this disc herniation and subsequent surgery, thank you for all help, lol

11/02/2020

It’s time to start planning.

Sorry if I missed anyone (please invite them or message me) or if I mistakenly invited those who didn’t attend JL with us. Invite our classmates (and spouses of course if you’d like) and contact people I dont have info on
Such as Garry H. Steven H. Ken M. Albert and Andy H, And ?

It doesn’t matter if you left before graduation, we still want to see you and catch up.

I’m still rehabilitating after back surgery and can’t promise I’m able to drive my vehicle or run around before summer but I’ll help coordinate a group effort.

I know we are thinking of dates in July if I remember correctly.

So I need suggestions of dates and then I need ideas of what type of get together you’d all like.

I’m good with anything and I’d appreciate all help, solutions and ideas as I’m not able to do this one on my own 🥳

Let’s start planning!
