To help us keep up with some math practice, I'm asking all students who were NOT in Ms. DeJong's class last year or who have not yet signed up, to go to www.khanacademy.com to register. We have a class set up there (called 5A_1920:5th grade) - students just need to find their name, and "sign up".
Once signed up, students can go to a number of places to practice. Our focus would have been on equivalent fractions on this Monday back from March Break! If you go to the Assignments section, you'll see that I have assigned an activity - when you open it, you should see a menu on the left. Make sure you're at the top of the menu to start with the first video in the series, then work through the activities. Students can submit them, so I can see their work. Let's cross our fingers it works (my first time using it!).

We'd just gotten started on our social studies unit, focusing on indigenous history. Students can go into our Google Classroom and open the reading for Chapter 1, as well as the Q&A document - we started working on that just before the break, but they could go back in and finish it on their own. They can post any questions or comments on the Classroom, or on this page.

Hello everyone! It's taken a few tries, but I think this might be the one that works! Please feel free to pass the word to others in our class who may not yet follow us on Instagram or check our class blog - I'll be using all three to stay in touch over this school closure period. Here, on Facebook, is where we can have the most interaction. I will be posting activities, assignments (not mandatory but recommended!) and I hope to do a daily read aloud video! Let's stay connected!
