👨‍🏫 One of my favourite parts of hosting was teaching the teams the STEM principles in each challenge. The full lessons were too long for TV - but you can see them on Wootube! Here’s the first: Flying Drones & Calculating Angles https://youtu.be/kcOoJTX-heA

🚀 So excited to finally share that on Channel 10 is almost here! Join Stephanie Bendixsen and I as we put 18 of Australia's brightest high school STEM students through some incredible challenges - series starts this Sunday 6:30pm on 10 Shake.

📺 Thanks Sunrise for having me this morning to share about my new books with Jess Black, Dave Hartley and Mitch Vane! Never pass up the opportunity to use the whiteboard (and rolled out one of my favourite proofs without words).

💛 This absolutely melts our hearts - helping young minds fall in love with maths is such a privilege! 🤗 (Even if it slightly delays bathtime 😂)

Well, this was a fun milestone to hit on the first day of the year. Here’s to the next 10⁸ views! 😃

We're one week away! Explore some of math's secrets with educator and YouTuber Eddie Woo! Register today to attend live online, or receive a recording after the event: https://bit.ly/3DZJM1V

Aussie STEM Stars (interview with author Rebecca Lim) 08/05/2021

Recently I had the great pleasure of chatting with Rebecca Lim, the author of my book in the Aussie STEM Stars series. She and I talked about the importance of storytelling, why Rebecca wanted to write this, and what we hope this book will be for young people who read it.

This is my goal, to always remember the effort studying takes.

Learning anything new can be really hard work.

One of my favourite Australian educators, Eddie Woo, often talks about how Maths wasn't a natural talent he had as a student. What others may see as a drawback, I see as enhancing his teaching because he can understand the struggle kids face when being taught complex Mathematics.

His empathy creates a wonderful learning community on his Wootube channel.

🎞 Having stared at this nightmarish edit timeline on & off for the last several weeks, I’m delighted to be dropping the first of an 8-part interview series where some delightful preservice teachers grill me with questions. On my second channel - enjoy! youtu.be/D6983g1lXAo

🍊 Did you know an orange saved the Sydney Opera House? Today’s episode on the mathematics of the Sydney Opera House gets very hands-on as we focus on the beautiful geometry that made the sails possible!

📼 Watch here: http://youtu.be/C-U_MeBekJw

⚠️ A dangerous thing we do in mathematics classrooms is provide formulas without explaining where they come from or why they make sense. Here’s my emoji-laden attempt at explaining the Probability Density Function of the Normal Distribution (for everyone out there wrestling with "continuous random variables" in Mathematics Advanced): http://youtu.be/1Q1rhvIkQo0

🎆 Passed a little milestone earlier this year - so I wanted to thank all of you for being part of it!

🧮 Just upgraded my calculator 👍 Anyone up for a soroban competition?! (Seriously, if anyone wants to challenge me they’re in with a great chance of winning. On the mathematical speed continuum, my rating is “glacial”)

📗 It’s real!! Finally have a copy of Eddie Woo’s Magical Maths 2 in my hands - massive props to Alissa Dinallo for the dynamic design that so beautifully captures the playfulness of mathematics in the book. And thanks of course Pan Macmillan Australia for bringing this idea into reality!
