CLAIM: A circulating infographic claimed that some parts of the country are placed under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.

The graphic has been making rounds on private messaging platforms and social media posts since last week.

It claimed that the following areas are placed under the GCQ status with heightened restrictions from May 15 to 31:

Metro Manila

Fact/s: Palace announced that the region remains under COVID-19 Alert Level 1 from May 16 to May 31.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority shared this announcement on its social media pages on May 16.

“Nananatili ang National Capital Region sa Alert Level 1 mula Mayo 16 hanggang May 31, base sa anunsyo ni Sec. Martin M. Andanar, Presidential Communications Secretary at Acting Presidential Spokesperson,” the traffic authority said.

Claim: Herd immunity will end the coronavirus pandemic, so vaccinations are not necessary.

Truth: Herd immunity is a term that refers to cases of an infectious disease slowing down and stopping when enough people in a population have immunity, either from getting and surviving a disease or from being vaccinated.

For COVID-19, letting people get the disease would result in many people getting severely sick, suffering lasting organ damage and even dying before herd immunity could occur.

Being vaccinated for COVID-19 drastically reduces your chance of having severe COVID-19 if you are exposed to SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes the disease. Immunity from the vaccine may last longer than immunity from having COVID-19. Also, vaccination reduces the number of infections that give the coronavirus an opportunity to mutate (change). Mutations (variants) of the virus (such as the contagious delta variant) can delay or even prevent herd immunity from being reached.

Claim: Netizens on Facebook (FB) and Twitter have falsely claimed that the Department of Health (DOH) will artificially increase the number of COVID-19 cases in the country two days before the May 9 elections.

Truth: The claim is false. The DOH debunked this claim in a statement released on April 30.

“The Department of Health categorically denies unfounded rumors that it will report an artificial increase in COVID-19 cases close to election day for partisan use against any candidate at any level,” its statement read.

Claim: Poor mental health is not a big issue for teenagers. They just have mood swings caused by hormonal fluctuations and act out due to desire for attention.

Fact: Teenagers often have mood swings, but that does not mean that adolescents may not also struggle with their mental health.

Fact Check ✔️

False Claim: A 7.2 magnitude earthquake will hit Cagayan de Oro and Tagoloan River.

Truth: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has denied that this information came from them. It urges the public to stop sharing the claim. It says there is no technology available that can predict when an earthquake will occur.

March 25, 2022 - "When we live our lives with integrity, it means that we let our actions speak for who we are and what we believe in. Integrity is a choice we make, and it’s a choice we must keep making, over and over and over again." - Marcel Schwantes

The quotation stated above was put into action by some notable individuals who made massive changes in the local community/society or even the whole world.
Hence, select NHVHS students shared some posts on their own social media accounts about particular people and famous persons who displayed integrity, honesty, and fairness in their community.

We are extending our warmest appreciation to everyone who spent time and effort in contributing something meaningful to all by incorporating and highlighting integrity in every post.
