Feeling very proud to say that after much inspirational learning and through thoughtful changes in my approach and learning environment, that Muddy Puddles is now a Hygge Accredited early years setting. Hygge has always been a key element of my home and learning environments long before I knew what hygge was. However, the journey this accreditation has taken me on has enabled me to embrace and learn SO much more and provide a setting and approach I believe in and one that I know is enriching the lives and experiences of the children I am privileged to nurture.
Thank you Kimberly

Another morning searching for and discovering natural treasures in the woods and using them with our friends and to make autumn sensory tubes. Our intrepid explorers particularly enjoyed being able to safely share their finds with our youngest children. We also practiced our tool safety as we chopped fallen apples to find their hidden seeds and then placed them in the woodland for wildlife to eat.

Making the most of autumn weather with awesome puddles and fabulous sunshine all in one morning. Last week we enjoyed a beautiful morning at Pitville Park with our friends and as we splashed, fished with sticks, fed the cygnets and swans, climbed, played hide and seek and rolled down hills. What a perfect way to spend a morning!

When one of our crew turned two we looked for how many pairs and lots of two objects we could find.

Last week we were fascinated by the appearance of so many spiders and spiders webs which led to us seeking out a favourite book of ours Walter's Wonderful Web. We created our own webs and spiders giving us lots of practice with our fine motor control. The children developed fabulous storylines in their small world play from a simple 'incy wincy spider' sensory bin too.

We enjoyed a lovely morning playing with our friends from and as we spotted signs of autumn.
We then explored natural treasures and loose parts back at our setting. Each child explored and manipulated the different resources in their own way and following their own schemas which was fascinating to watch having been learning more about schemaplay.

One of the best things about being a childminder is being able to change plans to make the most of an opportunity and today was all about making the most of windy day play! Thank you and for a lovely mirning swirling and twirling and chasing bubbles as they raced on the wind.

We have had a fabulous first week of term and kept cool with lots of water play and potion making as well as getting stuck into our new topic 'All About Us'. We have enjoyed catching up with the children who were off for the summer, welcomed our new children and had a lovely couple of mornings with out friends and . Together we had a great time keeping cool in the woods and in shady dens as we practiced our phonics, number recognition, mark making and social skills.
- the best job!

We had a great morning with our friends from and as we used our amazing bodies in our first day of 'Sports Week'. We sang and moved to lots of action songs, rolled, caught, jumped in and out of hula hoops and enjoyed our own natural obstacle course over and around the listening stones. The children were rather proud of the medals they made themselves.

We have been thinking about our amazing bodies today and just a few of the things they can do! We started with our heads and all the faces we can pull, the feelings we can show and ways we use our eyes, ears and mouths.

It's certainly been a busy weekend. I spent a fantastic day up in Bradford yesterday attending the Nook Purposeful Provision Conference. It was wonderful CPD spending a day with Amy from Little Squirrels Childcare and meeting like minded practioners. I came away very inspired by some great workshops and amazing speakers and I am all fired up with ideas for my little crew. Thank you so much to James for organising such a fantastic event.

We are buzzing after spending time over the last last two weeks exploring bees and how important they are.

What can you see? Thank you for sharing your kaleidoscope, it really got us thinking and looking at things differently all week.

Awe and Wonder everyday - life in early years

Love what nature has shared with us this week.

Another great week getting out and about and exploring nature. We took a trip to Nature in Art and had fun looking for the sculptures, becoming hidden as the foliage has grown up around them and saw morehen chicks and lots of insects. We enjoyed collaborative painting too. We visited Springbank Nature reserve to check in on the tadpoles and we were excited to see so many now with strong back legs. Then on Thursday we headed to Griffith Avenue Nature reserve to go bug hunting and were lucky to spot a slow worm and watch it travelling before moving it safely out of harms way. We had a lovely week enjoying activities and experiences with our friends and

We were very excited by our butterflies emerging from their crysalises / cocoons this week. It happened faster than I was expecting but it felt rather special setting them free to fly off in the sunshine. Watching their life cycle has created lots of awe and wonder at Muddy Puddles over the last few weeks.

We spent a glorious morning together with and playing in the sunshine at Pitville, making and dancing with streamers and bubbles and practised our ball skills, throwing, catching, kicking and dribbling. We also relaxed with some yoga and mindfulness as we listened out for the sounds around us.

What a great week we had exploring and spotting red, white and blue patterns, learning new songs and rhymes like Humpty Dumpty and The Grand Old Duke of York, finding out about some London landmarks and having wonderful with our friends and both at Gloucester Cathedral, where we dressed as kings and queens and had served each other 'tea' in the sunshine.
