Meet the ICAPP Fellows! We are immensely proud of what this group has accomplished in the Fall, and we look forward to their Spring projects.
Congratulations to our recently graduated fellows! Whether writing critical questions, working voter registration drives, or co-hosting un-CAPP it!, these students were active and hard-working members of ICAPP. We wish them the best in their next endeavors!
New to ICAPP? The Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) at Ohio Northern University is a non-partisan, education based community of scholars dedicated to conducting high-quality research to support civic literacy and an informed understanding of public policies with a focus on those issues affecting citizens in the Industrial Midwest.

Congratulations to our three ICAPP scholars who were awarded the President’s Excellence in Leadership Award for their respective year!
Simran Kaur: First year
Carmen Mancuso: Second year
Kennedy Aikey: Fourth year
It wouldn't be the end of the semester without our seniors signing the office wall!
On Tuesday, April 16th, ICAPP had the pleasure of being joined by the Honorable Cheri Mason during our Honors Day luncheon. She gave a fantastic keynote speech before we recognized the winners of the high school civic engagement essay contest.
ICAPP has had a busy semester this year! One of our wonderful events was the Girls Increasing Representation in Leadership Summit—AKA GIRLS 2024. We invited middle school girls from the area to spend the morning at ONU. They had the opportunity to meet two women in leadership positions—Kenton Mayor Lynn Jones Webb and Ada Village Council Member Sheila Coressel—and to learn from ONU students and ICAPP scholars.
We are delighted that Cheri Mason will be our ICAPP Honors Day luncheon speaker this year. Cheri has had an incredible career in public service and her newly released book, Dare to Relate: Leading with a Fierce Heart, details many lessons she has learned about leadership over the years. We are all looking forward to her words of wisdom.
Additionally, all are invited to hear her discuss her book at 4:00 on Monday, April 15th on the first floor of Heterick Library. It promises to be a wonderful event. We hope you can join us!
If you want to know why media matters, why not go to one of the sources? Tune in to episode 3 of un-CAPP it! to hear from Amy Eddings, a host and producer of NPR’s “Morning Edition” on WKSU Cleveland.

At ONU, we have a daily reminder of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today we can especially reflect on his contributions to the civil rights movement.
