🐈 🚫 🪱 While we were out of town visiting family for two weeks, our house sitter told us that the cat was peeing in the worm bin. After returning and further observation, we noticed a big decrease in worm activity so we decided to contact our friends at Uncle Jim’s Worms for advice.

Turns out, ammonia from cat urine will kill worms.

It was recommended to remove as many worms as possible and start over with new bedding. Yesterday we dumped the worm farm into our compost garden that is curing over the winter and tried to save as many worms as possible. About 200-300 worms out of 2,000 survived.

Fun fact: worms will eat other dead, decomposing worms!
