24/12/2022

Because of your partnership and support, we have been able to follow God's call and serve as missionaries in Nigeria. Unfortunately, not everyone who feels called to serve as a missionary finds a way to do so. Global Lutheran Outreach (GLO) helps people to Go Beyond the barriers to missionary service! IN FOUR DAYS, you are invited to join with GLO to help Lutherans from every nation say "yes" to God's call on their lives! On December 27th, For just ONE day, your gift will be tripled!
Just go to our webpage www.charidy.com/GLO/africa to make your donation.

Hillcrest School, Jos, Nigeria, is looking for more teachers, especially in their Elementary School. This is a school with missionary roots and the goal to make disciples of Christ for today. I have worked here for over six years in Grade 4 and have a wonderful group of colleagues, a beautiful, woodsy environment in which to live on campus while serving in a small city among the body of Christ in Jos.

Nigeria's Independence Day is near; first of October. These photos are from a year ago. This year we will see no masks. I hope the effects of Covid-19 have weakened near you, as well.

Dale has remained pain free from the pinched nerve he has in his neck! We are truly thankful for God's grace in this. Dale has been feeling great since June! About a week ago he returned from a 10-day trip to Ethiopia and Kenya to see church leaders and GLO missionaries. Join us in thanksgiving!

It's a wrap! School year 2021-2022 is completed for which I am most certainly grateful to God. Here are some photos of the last days with Hillcrest's Class of 2030 and celebrations with fellow teachers.
Our theme for next year was announced: My God. My rock. Psalm 18:2

UPDATE: Dale has had a lot less pain and discomfort the past month from the pinched nerve, for which we are so thankful to God. As we travel this break time during June and July, we pray he stays pain free.

Dale has a pinched nerve in his cervical spine and it's causing pain and discomfort again since Christmas. This time he hasn't gotten relief as fast as the episode last year. Please help us pray the doctor appt on Monday will be very helpful.

Even in the late Dry Season, there is new life! Reminds me of the new life in Jesus, when our environment is otherwise "dry". He is the Source that never runs dry.

Happy 61st Independence Day, Nigeria!!

This New Year of 2020 has brought some transition to our family as my Mom left her earthly home to go to heaven the 21st of January. After years of dementia and weakening heart and kidneys, her 85 year old body needed real rest. I am grateful for the gift of time Dale and I had to be with her since Christmas, while she was still lucid. My school graciously granted a leave of absence for me to have this precious family time since, as well. This is Mom's first month-aversary in heaven and I wonder what she is doing today.
While I am wrapping up my time in Chicago, Dale has been traveling since the end of January in eastern Africa. He is continuing to help orient Sheryl K. in TZ and Lumembo in Ethiopia, while encouraging Gbeanquios during the early days of Uri's arrival into their family. He plans to see Otulas as well, among other visits I'm sure he is also doing. We will reunite in our African Home in Jos, Nigeria early March.
Thank you to all those who have shared in our sadness while also rejoicing with us in the victory Mom has in Jesus. Your words of comfort and encouragement are very much appreciated.

I really had good intentions to post regularly here about our work in Nigeria (me) and across Africa (Dale). I feel like it was a New Year's type resolution gone bad. But, never say never; I can post when able, so here goes. . .
Dale just returned from a 7 week trip through Asia and eastern Africa to encourage our fellow GLO missionaries and team up with others to help set the groundwork for new endeavors. He rates the trip as a "success!" Even missing out on the Democratic Republic of Congo was apparently in God's plans. Dale did not get a visa ahead of time and they don't offer them on-arrival. One of colleagues, Rev. Dixon Gbeanquois went instead.
We are both grateful he was safe and healthy the whole time. I want to thank all our brothers and sister in this work for welcoming in for his visits and helping keep him fed. His favorite part of work with GLO is being with you all!

We're welcoming a new teacher! Tami, center, will teach Grade 1. Tim will study Hausa before teaching at a nearby seminary. Welcoming them with me is our Superintendent, Mrs. Lucasse.

I've been preparing my room for the new class due to arrive the 7th. Floor tiling was done in June so I packed everything up and stored in my closet in May. It's all coming back together. . even better this time!

Cooking today included a fresh chicken. I got it still warm! Besides, I also used a pressure cooker to prepare mixed beans.

This page was not created to sell a thing, but rather to share information. . . free of charge. I want to share about Nigeria, and our lives and work here. Family and Friends have been following us for years, but families change and events unfold; they sure have for us. . . and undoubtedly for you! As I share about our lives, work, and the country in which we spend most of the year, I want to know more about you. What are your thoughts and dreams, what changes are transpiring in your family and work. Life is for sharing!
Oh and by the way, thanks for stopping by!

ELCK Lk Dio mission conference June '19 18/07/2019

My summer break from teaching began with joining Dale for a Missions Conference with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya, ELCK, and GLO in western Kenya for 3 days. What a great time partnering in a project with our dear friends, James Tino and Liisa Tino, and new friends in the Kenyan church!
