The students of Grade IX organized " Gram Panchayat" as an activity under the guidance of their social teacher. The activity was conducted to create awareness about Gram Panchayat and how to utilize the funds allotted by the government for various developmental programs in the village.
Panjapur Gram Panchayat was organized under the leadership of the Sarpanch of the village, Mr.S. Surya Prakash.
Many issues like proper roads, cleaning the canals, child marriage, improper functioning of the Primary Health Centre, and renovating the school building in Panjapur were brought to the attention of the Sabha. Sarpanch replied that certain issues will be solved/considered under various government programs like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (for maintaining roads), 100 days of work for unemployed youth under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Jal Jeevan (to clean wells and canals), Ayushman Bharat Yojana (to renovate hospitals), etc.
Outcomes: Children understood the concept of Gram Panchayat and became aware of various programs that can develop villages in many fields.
