Governor Andy Beshear recently recognized the winners of Mr. Chappell’s 2024 STEM Fair. Congratulations to all who participated and to those who placed.

1st Place - MINI GREENHOUSE - Drayden Goff, Aleyah Martin, Jonathon Mayes, Hailey Moore, Alexis Scott, and Evan Whitmer constructed a miniature greenhouse. Their greenhouse was equipped with a misting system that could be controlled with a timer. Their project demonstrated the ability to grow food in an area with limited space.

2nd Place (2-way tie) - BIODEGRADABLE PLASTIC - Olivia Darrow, Dallas English, and Julie Fulkerson showcased a method for making biodegradable plastic. Their project highlighted the need to reduce landfill materials by using eco-friendly products.

2nd Place (2-way tie) - VERTICAL HYDROPONICS - Taegan Beliles, Jackson Tyler, Aubrey Armstrong, Clacey Jones, and Spencer Newman created a vertical hydroponics system. Their project presented the concept of growing plants in an area with poor soil quality and limited space.

3rd Place - EARTHQUAKE TABLE - Claire Ashby, Morgan Johnson, Addison Langley, and Taegan Keith worked collaboratively to build an earthquake table. This project is a miniature version of models used to scientists to predict the impact of earthquakes on large structures.
