We’ve heard from many of you who want to contribute to our students’ Giving Tree but cant buy a toy so we created a way for you to send a dollar (or more!) to help us make sure all our students receive gifts this year. Any amount helps and will go directly to buying gifts for the students on our Giving Tree who have not yet had anyone chose them this holiday season. Join us for a kids holiday book reading party next Thursday, Dec 14 from 5 to 6 pm in the library on the second floor of the Plessy lower campus, 1651 N Tonti St. Plessy parent Marguerite Albares will read a copy of the new book she illustrated titled “Clyde the Good Inside Elf” that takes new spin on the elf on the shelf narrative to focus on positive self esteem.

Clyde the Good Inside Elf: We are delighted to announce Plessy parent Marguerite Albares has illustrated a new book that takes a new spin on the Elf on the Shelf story and has generously agreed to host a fundraiser with us that shares more than 70% of the profits of the sale of each book with Friends of Plessy when purchased through our organization over the next few weeks.

“Clyde, the Good Inside Elf” tells the story of an elf that is here not to tell Santa about any naughty deeds but instead to bring Christmas cheer and remind all children that they are good inside even when they make mistakes.

With a forward by popular parenting coach Dr. Becky Kennedy, this book is focused on instilling positive self-esteem and we could not love it more.

Friends of Plessy is hosting an art booth at the Oak Street Poboy Festival this Sunday, Nov. 19. Do you have any art you can donate or an hour to help at the booth? All proceeds go to support our mission to fund field trips and create community through events and connections.
