Behold! A New Era of Student Leadership Unfolds.

Today marked a significant milestone as the Student Peer Facilitators Organization (SPFO) embarked on a transformative journey through a training workshop and the pledge of commitment of officers. Guided by the Office of Guidance and Counseling Services, the dedicated student leaders gathered at the JHCSC Audio Visual Room (AVR) on Friday, March 15, 2024, to embark on a journey of growth and service. Under the mentorship of the esteemed Mrs. Jonah Salaguste, the Guidance Counselor of JH Cerilles State College and the cherished adviser of SPFO together with her constituents, the workshop unfolded rich in learning and camaraderie. Mrs. Salaguste's wisdom and guidance illuminated their path as they delved into the nuances of peer facilitation and leadership.

In a comprehensive discussion, Mrs. Salaguste elucidated the duties and responsibilities incumbent upon SPFO members. From offering peer support and guidance to facilitating meaningful discussions, every task was underscored by the ethos of service and empathy. Moreover, Mrs. Salaguste emphasized the essential traits that SPFO members must embody. Traits such as empathy, active listening, and confidentiality were highlighted as foundational pillars of effective peer facilitation. Through interactive activities and group discussions, participants reflected on these qualities, recognizing their significance in building trust and rapport within the college community.

Throughout the day, their hearts brimmed with excitement and anticipation as they embraced the responsibility bestowed upon them. From fostering inclusive environments to honing active listening skills, every moment was an opportunity for personal and collective growth. Amidst the enriching sessions, participants also enjoyed moments of camaraderie and entertainment. Engaging activities and entertainment were interspersed throughout the workshop, fostering a sense of connection and celebration among the SPFO members.

Grateful for the enriching experience and inspired by Mrs. Salaguste's guidance, the SPFO members departed the workshop with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment. As they embark on this transformative journey together, they carry with them the invaluable lessons and insights shared by their mentor. Excited for the road ahead, they stand united in their dedication to fostering a culture of support and empowerment within JH Cerilles State College.

Championed by the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, led by Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, this endorsement heralds a new era for higher education in Zamboanga del Sur.

The proposed conversion, subject to compliance with RA 8292 and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) standards, represents a monumental leap forward in the region's educational landscape. By elevating JHCSC to university status, the bill aims to expand academic opportunities, enhance research capabilities, and elevate the overall quality of education provided to students.

Under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, Zamboanga del Sur State University is poised to embark on a transformative journey. The endorsement of House Bill 04080 was only possible with the dedicated efforts of Congresswoman Divina Grace C. Yu and Congresswoman Jeyzel Victoria C. Yu.
