I was curious how hard I could hit myself in the nose (with the base of my palm) before it hurt, so I tried, hitting it progressively harder.
When I hit it fairly hard, it felt ok and I could actually breathe a little better! (I've broken my nose a few times before... not trying this!). It hadn't occurred to me that there might be a delayed reaction!

A little 12.30am snack of beef, brocoli, cauliflower, and rice. Pretty healthy, cheap, and tastes good!

Lots of work on elbows today, which was fun. I have long arms (so my elbows reach as far as some people's punches!) and very sharp elbows.
I was surprised to learn the "12 to 6" elbow strike (a downward stabbing motion) is legal in Muay Thai, as I know it's illegal in MMA (especially if the opponent is down). I'll work on my jumping onto their shoulders and doing it with both elbows, as Tony Jaa does in Ong Bak (a film you really should watch if you haven't already).

Here's another (fairly) interesting video about people thinking they can fight. 6% of Americans really think they could win a fight against a Grizzly Bear?
For the record, I don't think I can fight well yet. If I did, I'd have tried to get in the ring with someone already!

Friendly but slightly 'off' (not sure what exactly, but there's something!) guy who sometimes comes to sit next to me in the park: "What's that on your sweater?"
Me: "Oh... it's blood."
Him: "Why do you have blood on you?"
Me: "Someone was asking too many questions."
(Long, awkward pause)
"I'm kidding. It's coffee."
Him: "Ah! Have you got any ci******es?"

My answers to his questions:
1) If someone jumped out and attacked you, would you beat them in a fight?
That depends on many different factors. Generally, I'm the opposite of 'Red Ross' (is a 48-year-old man making a 'Friends' reference a bit weird?) and will do anything to get out of a fight... nothing good will come out of it, whatever the outcome;
2) Have you had any martial arts training?
Yes, to varying degrees: karate, aikido, kenjutsu, ninjutsu (only one lesson.... they were rubbish!), some kung fu forms, Muay Thai, some weapons training (nunchakus, Maglites, knives, and even once had a session on how to inflict pain with a painkiller tablet!), and a little boxing. I was also a pretty good shot when I was young (partly the aforementioned low heart rate!), if that counts;
3) What makes someone a good fighter?
I think skill, physical capabilities and mentality all play an important role. Concealed weapons can help ("Where's your tool?");
4) If you had 24 hours to prepare for a fight, what would you do?
It'd be like that scene in Commando when Matrix kits up after arriving on the island.
What are your answers?
Why do people THINK they can Fight??

In 2023, when I had to have a series of operations, doctors were freaked out after the first one because my heart rate had dropped so low. (I think it's because it was the first time in a long time I was able to just lie down and relax!).
So, I wore an ECG(?) for 24 hours and had other tests, and they determined that my heart is fine... just a bit weird.
I had a similar thing after a fairly hefty car crash, back in my late twenties. In the ambulance, the paramedics looked a bit worried and, when I asked why, they said, "Judging by your heart rate, you're either in serious trouble or extremely healthy."
I said that I felt fine, so we agreed it must be the latter, although anyone who knew me would have laughed at the idea of me being super healthy. At the time, I was training hard (30 hours a week) to take my final test before I could teach Karate professionally, which must have helped. And taking a kick from my teacher, even holding the pad, was more unpleasant than crashing into a car at 50mph (80kph), so I wasn't particularly shaken up.
Anyway, Sod's Law being what it is, I'll probably now drop dead from a heart attack soon!

Chicken on (now slightly stale) flat bread with a tiny bit of chilli sauce. I shall fold it into a ball and probably eat it in 2 bites!
I'm no Delia Smith, but it's protein and some carbs. I don't eat as much as I should, but I'm slowly upping my intake. Currently, my daily diet consists of the following: two of these chicken wraps (they're better when the bread is fresh!), a 'proper meal' usually involving beef and veg with rice or pasta, 2 protein shakes, and a glazed doughnut with my coffee after the gym if they haven't sold out.
I weighed myself last night and was disheartened to see that I've actually lost weight. However, looking in the mirror (something I usually try to avoid), I've lost fat and maybe even gained some muscle. I'm very slowly beginning to look like some sort of Manga character... if I can look like Jubei from Ninja Scroll, I'm happy!

I'm the opposite. All I want to do is kill or, at the very least, cripple my opponent.
I'm kidding, of course, but in the street it's a different matter. I was taught back in my karate days that you have to treat every fight in the street as a fight to the death; not that you're necessarily trying to kill them, but you have to assume that they are trying to kill you (or might kill you accidentally with, say, a boot to the head), and act accordingly. This is one reason I try to avoid such things.
Joe Calzaghe: “I understand that in boxing the purpose is to damage. But I can only speak of myself and I say honestly that I have never wanted to seriously hurt an opponent. I'm not violent. It's just the nature of what I do. But I'm a fighter and I can tell you what's in my mind. I have never set foot in the ring with the express intention of inflicting serious harm on my opponent.”

My trainer has a little checklist for each session, and I got a little 'v' (for 'very good') next to every exercise. Beaming, I was.
Doing a 'farmer's walk' but with lunges is a bastard, especially when it's 3 sets of two lengths of the gym with progressively heavier weights (the last set being two 20kg dumbbells).

Mostly hitting the pads yesterday. Fitness is improving... managed a 20-punch combo right at the end (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Circle, Square), and still had gas in the tank.
Struggled with even light weights today, though!

As part of 'Stage 2', I've replaced copious amounts of w**d with protein shakes and chicken wraps. I no longer sound like I'm kickstarting a Boeing in the mornings, and should pack on some much-needed muscle.
