Communication is the interchange of messages through various mediums (verbal/non-verbal) between people which is the fundamental building block of social experiences.
CULTURE plays an important element of these codes and conventions and the most obvious non-shared code is language. (Thomas & Inkson, 2004). Although it is easier to communicate with others from the same culture if we are trained, sensitive and understand others culture we can bridge misunderstandings and communicate more effectively to ALL.
According to Barton (1994), language is a symbolic system linking of what goes on inside our heads (our thoughts, feelings) with what goes on outside (transferring that to others). It mediates between self and society.
Conflicts, misunderstandings and lack of love in the world mostly occur because of lack of training in communication, cross-cultural sensitivities and lack of understanding of PERCEPTION.
THE FACTORS THAT HELP THE FACILITATION OF CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION ARE:
*Mindfulness
*Self- reflection and making an effort to understand the other's PERCEPTION
*EMOTIONAL REGULATION
*Training to communicate effectively
