Immigration and Colonialism (Local Christian Nationalist with Lucas Scott Roberts) - Servants and Heralds 30/06/2023

Dear Fellow Believer, I want to talk to you today about immigration and colonialism in the context of a Christian Nation. As if Christian Nationalism as a topic isn’t divisive enough, I thought I’d add some more winsome points of conversation. If we want to have a Christian Nation some day, then what might our immigration policy look like? Jesus seemed to have a pretty strong opinion about the poor and the destitute that come across our borders searching for a better life....

"Though I do not consider myself a Christian Nationalist, to Stephen Wolfe’s credit, he is providing an actual option that seeks to be loving and Christian. It is no surprise that people considering alternatives would show up in his circles.... Currently, elite evangelicals only seem capable of shaming young men and destroying the ones who harbor or struggle with unacceptable thoughts. There is a better way though." - Jon Harris

CrossPolitic's Big Eva Moment - Servants and Heralds 23/08/2022

My participation in the controversy created by CrossPolitic last week has largely been expressed on Twitter. Having now been tagged by two of the CrossPolitic guys in their responses to their controversy (and thanks, by the way, Toby and Gabe for giving me the heads up) I think it is better to go long form. If for some reason you are reading this and have no idea what the sentence above refers to and you want to catch up I’d recommend scrolling through…...

Just Thinking Podcast On Cultural Denominationalism - Servants and Heralds 13/07/2022

Darrell B. Harrison and Virgil Walker released a characteristic opus-length episode and it is just as good as you would expect from the Just Thinking crew. This one is worth highlighting in that the SBC features prominently - surprise, surprise: not in a good way. This is a good episode to listen to then find a fellow Southern Baptist to send it to, ask them to listen, then set up coffee or lunch to talk it over. Give the episode a listen here or on your podcast app.

It’s an Issue with the Network: The Platform and Anaheim 2022 - Servants and Heralds 07/04/2022

Brothers and sisters, it is time for this to stop. This is a political machine that is broken. And Bart is far more in touch today with the Platform than he is with the average Southern Baptist in the pew. We must change the direction."

Book Review: The Loveliest Place by Dustin Benge - Servants and Heralds 25/03/2022

"As you scroll through social media or read Christian websites, ask yourself how many times “the church” is mentioned. How many paint the church in a negative light, as too “institutional” or helplessly blind to the sins of the past? How many descriptions of the church focus on programs or methods? By contrast, how many describe the church as “lovely”? How many describe it as “precious”? Despite their absence from much Christian discourse, terms like those last two are how God describes the church in His Word."

Ascol to be Nominated for SBC President, Baucham for Pastors Conference President - Servants and Heralds 22/03/2022

Wonderful news broke a few moments ago via The Daily Wire: Good-faith Southern Baptists are delighted and, hopefully, game planning to have their church messengers in California ready to vote for this (no hyperbole) dream team. Please pray for God's blessing - the counter-attack from The SBC Platform is likely to be absolutely brutal (which we already got a taste of when Baucham was rumored to be the candidate):...
